The Girl Connected to my “Red Thread of Fate” was my Natural Enemy - Chapter 5

Chapter 5:
After the (awkward) prayer, the class continued.
“Now, let’s talk about something more realistic. Here is information relating to the 「Red Thread of Fate Syndrome」” (Sanzenin-sensei)
Realistic?
The teacher wrote more on the blackboard.
It was:
“What if…your Fated Person dies…?”
Kuonji’s murmur echoed in the quiet classroom.
But Sanzenin-sensei’s lesson did not stop.
“This is something that can happen in real life. From illness, injury, accident, etc. I will explain what happens when a situation like that occurs.”
The air in the classroom tightened.
The person in your head may suddenly change. There is no reason not to be bothered.
“At the moment, it is estimated that about 60 million people die every year in the world, or about 164,000 a day. It’s not an impossible figure. Well, it’s the sum total of all ages, so the probability of someone your age dying and being the one you were meant to be with is also quite low.” (Sanzenin-sensei)
The following is a summary of Sanzenin-sensei’s previous lectures:
Since the 「Red Thread of Fate」started to appear across the world, the suicide rate among children has dropped.
The rate of bullying and crime has also decreased dramatically.
There are many reasons for this, but one of the possibilities is
「Love」
People don’t want to make others feel sad when they do something wrong.
People don’t want to do something wrong and have the other person hate them for it.
That’s why they say the probability of the person of your dreams dying and changing is close to zero.
However, there is still a possibility of change.
That is: illness, injury, and accidents.
“If somehow your Fated Person changed, you will then be connected to the most compatible person in your life, plus or minus 5 years. If the other person is not 16, you will not connect with anyone until they are 16. This is the reality.” (Sanzenin-sensei)
“Sensei, why plus or minus 5 years?” (Random gyaru)
The black gyaru (I think it was Kurosetani-san?) interrupted Sanzenin-sensei and asked a question.
“There are many theories about this, but the most popular one is that it’s your physical age. If the ages are too far apart, the older person will always die first.” (Sanzenin-sensei)
“Does that mean we’ll be together until we die?” (Kurosetani)
“That’s what it means.” (Sanzenin-sensei)
“Oh, romantic!” (Kurosetani)
Kurosetani’s words caused a commotion among the class (mostly girls).
I see, we’ll be together until we die…
I wonder what kind of face Kuonji is making as she keeps looking at the blackboard…
“Next, let’s talk about homosexuals. There is no change except that the person of destiny is of the same sex. Even if the object of your affection is of the same sex, your Fated Person will appear.” (Sanzenin-sensei)
“Maaya-chan. I was thinking, that’s pretty convenient, isn’t it?” (Ryūya)
“Kurashiki-kun, it’s not ‘Maaya,’ it’s ‘Sanzenin-sensei.’ But you bring up a good point.” (Sanzenin-sensei)
Sanzenin-sensei has a cheerful smile that she usually doesn’t show.
“That’s why it’s ‘Fate.’” (Sanzenin-sensei)
She moved on from the syndrome and started to lecture on an unrelated topic.

“Magumagu, gulp [TLN: SFX]. I see, I see, I see. Fate is a very messy thing isn’t it?” (Neika)
While biting into a giant melon pan for lunch, Neika mentioned something that she had learned in class.
Ichou High School’s speciality: The Face Melon Bread.
It’s about three times as big as a normal melon pan, and for the small Neika, it’s big enough to cover her entire face.
How does that kind of thing fit inside her loli body?
“Yeah. I never thought I’d be manipulated like this.” (Akito)
“Hey hey heey. Akito, there are aspects of the current world that are peaceful because of this thing. That’s what Maaya-chan said, right?” (Ryūya)
“Well, yeah.” (Akito)
Because of this, the world can be peaceful.
At the tip of the red thread, Kuonji is eating with Ryūgūin.
A face that laughs happily. It doesn’t usually bother me, but now even that smile looks shinin-
“Arrggh!”
“Hey Akki. You can’t just bang your head on the desk. You’ll make the milk carton fall off.” (Neika)
“Nei. That’s why you should be more worried about Akito than the milk carton.” (Ryūya)
In this world, there are coincidences, miracles, and fates that cannot be explained or understood with our level of vocabulary and mind.
One them is this 「Red Thread of Fate」
There are still many mysteries about this red thread…and how it came to be.
“So, the time has finally come, Akito.” (Ryūya)
“Mm-hmm. I won’t let you go now.” (Neika)
Ugh…Well this is what happens.
Now, how to escape this situation…
“…I’ll talk about myself, but tell me about the two of you first. It’s not fair to only talk about me, right?” (Akito)
“Hmm? Yeah, that’s true.” (Neika)
“That’s right Nei. Then, I’ll tell you.” (Ryūya)
They both point the back of their left hands at me at the same time. [EDN: Because thread is on ring finger of their left hand]
“We.” (Neika)
“We.” (Ryūya)
“”We’re getting married!!”” (Neika and Ryūya)
———-
“What!?” (Akito)
““You’re lying!!”” (Neika and Ryūya)
Tatsuya smiled as if he had eaten a person, and took a bite out of the prepared melon pan.
“Mogumogu, gulp. I’m not sure what to believe. There’s no such thing as a coincidence, then.” (Ryūya)
“…well yeah, I guess so.” (Akito)
There is such a coincidence…It’s getting harder and harder to say.
“My Fated Person is that way, by the way. The thread color is normal red. She’s probably taller. And, she’s quite beautiful.” (Ryūya)
“Mine’s that way. The thread color is red. He’s short, maybe about my height.” (Neika)
The two of them pointed in exactly the opposite direction of each other.
Haa…I thought it was true for a moment because of these guys. In my mind, Neika and Ryūya were perfect for each other.
“And, what about you Akki?” (Neika)
“We told you about ourselves. Now, it’s time for you to tell us, okay?” (Ryūya)
“Guuh…Do I have to tell you?” (Akito)
“Yup.” (Neika)
“That’s right.” (Ryūya)
You guys are too close.
But well, if it’s just the…direction and color, I can tell you. Probably, I can-
“Sanada.” (Riran)
“What?…Kuonji.” (Akito)
She was standing behind me before I knew it.
Kuonji crossed her arms, and looked down at them, pointing her thumbs toward the hallway.
“Lend me your time.” (Riran)
I’m not sure if she’s a Yankee from the Showa era or not.
“…Sorry, you two. I’ll be back in a bit.” (Akito)
“Ooh.” (Neika)
“Akito, don’t fight to much~” (Ryūya)
I won’t…maybe.
TLN: Thanks for reading the chapter. Also want to shout out to the person who donated to me on ko-fi (if you want to support me check it out). Will I keep doing almost weekly releases? Probably not, but you might get a third chapter this month, so stay tuned!
Yakiyo
Man this keeps getting better. Thx for the chapter
