The Happiness That The Shinigami Gave Me - V4 Chapter 8
Volume 4 Chapter 8
I pedaled my bike as hard as I could. The sun was already beginning to set and night had already begun to cover the streets of Setagaya.
Whenever I reached a traffic light, I’d check my phone, only to find out that she hadn’t read my text. I tried calling her, but she didn’t pick up.
What was she doing? It would be great if she was having a good time and she just forgot to check on her phone, but I knew that was just my naive thinking.
Something bad must have happened to Suzuno.
Her fate stated that she wouldn’t live long—
I entered the west side of the Komazawa-Dori.
Where was she? Komazawa Park was too big, I didn’t have enough time to search for her in this darkness.
Just as I was about to enter the park, my phone trembled and I braked my bike hard.
Did Suzuno reply to me?
I locked my gaze onto my phone screen as if I was praying. But that hopeful feeling turned into frustration as I read the words plastered on my lock screen.
It was Motoyama. “Hey, you free? Wanna hang out?” He said in his usual light tone.
‘F**k, are you kidding me? I have no time to lose and you just had to pop out with your usual nonchalant attitude!’
“Meow.”
A low meowing sound caught my attention. It was because I stopped to see that text that I was able to catch that sound in between the roaring sound of the car engines.
There was a black cat at my feet.
It looked up at me with its golden eyes, it’s tail looked unusual—
“Kuro?!”
Its strange body shape was proof that this was the cat I was familiar with.
It was the one who kept bringing me to Suzuno’s side.
“Meow~”
Suddenly, it started to run.
Crossing the road as the pedestrian light turned green, it headed to Komazawa—.
“Are you guiding me to her side again?”
In a split second, I made a decision. To pedal my bike hard. I couldn’t afford to let it out of my sight.
Just like when it led me to the park where Suzuno was back then, or when it led me to Suzuno, who was almost frozen to death on her own doorstep. Please, guide me to her side again! I beg you!
A park with lush greenery came to my view. The lights protected it from the darkness of the night as it shone amidst the darkness surrounding it.
The black cat ran forward without casting a second glance. Its long tail swayed up and down, as if telling me to follow its track. It ran through the Komazawa-Dori, passing under the two overpasses stretching from the central plaza.
At that moment, I panicked. Should I keep following this cat? Komazawa Park was right there. I wiped my cold sweat.
I had to get to Suzuno’s side quickly. I didn’t have a minute, no, a second to lose. I couldn’t make any mistakes. My grip on the handles tightened.
As I passed the overpasses, the cat turned left, sliding its body to the parking lot near the athletic stadium. I followed its long tail and turned my back handle to the left.
There were barely any cars there, but there was a lump of black shadows where the lights couldn’t reach. Two girls were surrounded by several men.
“…Thank you!”
I thanked the black cat. At some point, it escaped my sight.
Nevertheless, I sent him my heartfelt thanks. Thanks to it, I managed to arrive at the right place!
