With that, we returned to our old routine.
Meeting in the morning, going to school after Suzuno had finished her breakfast, the usual. Except for one thing.
“Oh! Finally you guys made up!”
When we entered the classroom together, Motoyama was the first person who called out to us. He approached us without any hesitation in his steps.
Yes. We decided to go to school together. I didn’t need to hide the fact that I was going out with Suzuno anymore. Also, I didn’t need to be afraid of death anymore.
“You guys really worried me, you know?”
Motoyama patted me in the back. Then, he spoke into my ear.
“Natsuhara-san suddenly told me, ‘I want to confess to Yuuma,’ the other day. I swear, my reaction back then was like a manga character. I mean, weren’t you guys supposed to go out already?”
“Mm, well, that happened, huh? Sorry.”
I bowed to him.
Suzuno told me that she had been consulting with him. She asked him to give her a chance to talk with me alone. That was why they started talking with each other a lot lately.
Motoyama always seemed goofy, but I knew that he was a good guy. According to Suzuno, he was very cooperative and kind when she asked for his help. He even went ahead and gave her a lot of encouragement.
To think that I was jealous of him. I was a dumbass.
“I was right, wasn’t I? You really love her don’t you, Yuuma?”
“God d**n it… I hate to admit it to you, but yeah, you were right.”
After I said those words, Motoyama had a satisfied look on his face.
“I mean, I’m your best friend, Yuuma. I know everything about you!”
“Sure, sure. You’re my best friend, yeah.”
“Oh, you finally admitted it! You should be more honest like this, Yuuma!”
“I know, right?”
To my dismay, Suzuno chided in and agreed with him.
“Stop picking on me already, you two!”
The two of them started to laugh after hearing my pathetic words. Not long after, Momo-chan entered the classroom, and the topic of our conversation shifted to our school trip in Kyoto.
It feels good.
Being in the same class as Suzuno and the rest of my friends, talking about random things without a care in the world.
It feels like we’re just normal middle school students.
