I was greeted by the sky blue color.
Rattle rattle.
Then, I heard that sound. The sound that I was familiar with since I was a kid.

I found myself sitting down on a train seat.
A sky blue seat in a sky blue train.
“Heya. We meet here again, huh, Yuuma-kun?”
It was an ominous voice that I was familiar with. Looking for the owner of the voice, I saw a man walking slowly from the next car.
He had a unique hairstyle that I couldn’t get used to seeing. The afro businessman: the shinigami.
“I…”
I stood up without thinking as I glanced around.
Outside the window was a flower field. In the middle of that field was a river. The Sanzu River.
The Shinigami smiled in satisfaction.
“Haha, you did a great job. You fulfilled your contract: you saved the girl’s life.”
“Ah…”
I remembered everything.
That truck hit me.
In my last moments, I saw Suzuno’s wide-eyed face filled with despair after I shoved her out of the way.
“W-What about Suzuno?”
“She’s fine. She was terrified by it, but she wasn’t hurt.”
I see.
Suzuno was okay.
“By the way, there are three other men that died with you. The guy inside the car, the guy with the knife, and the guy that looks like an art student.”
That meant…
“I’m…already dead?”
“Yes. You died protecting Suzuno-san.”
I see.
I’ll save Suzuno even if it means I have to die for it.
I kept my words.
“Your last moment was cool.”
It was the right thing to do.
I managed to save her. Ever since I was a kid, I had only wished, thought and lived to protect her. And I had fulfilled it.
Yet…
“Aaahhh!”
I could feel nothing but frustration.
