Right. I have to stand my ground.

I’m the only one who can save Suzuno!

“Oi, shut up! You don’t want me to cut his arms and legs, right?”

The man with the knife put more strength in his arm. That slight movement completely shut Suzuno’s scream.

Don’t f**k with me!

I managed to stand up, but a wave of dizziness struck me, rendering me unable to walk properly.

But…

I became more sure than ever.

It was time.

The time had come.

For me to protect Suzuno.

This was the sole reason why I lived in the first place!

“Uuuooooh!’

I shouted with all my might. That was enough to make the art student flinch. Using the opening I created, I leapt at the man with the knife.

If I could get the knife away from his hand, Suzuno would be able to escape!

At that moment.

A loud horn echoed through the night.

From Komazawa-Dori, a large truck came toward our direction without any sign of slowing down.

No way…

My bike that I parked at the entrance was easily crushed. Sparks flew, screams came from all directions.

Everything became unnaturally distorted and it felt like time was passing slowly. 

The truck headed toward the minivan next.

Behind the minivan’s opened door.

They were trying to shove Suzuno inside. 

I thought if I could fend off the knife, she would be able to escape.

“Uuuooooh!’

A moment later.

My body moved on its own.

I leaped forward with my arms stretched.

Ignoring the surroundings, I violently pulled Suzuno’s arm.

Like I would swing a bat, I pulled her body and threw her towards my back.

As she fell onto the asphalt, my eyes managed to catch her face.

Our gazes locked.

Her gaze was filled with despair.

And that was it.

That was the last scene that I saw.

After an ear-splitting crashing sound, my vision momentarily darkened.

It felt like my body was being crushed.

But even that feeling quickly faded away.
