In the end, the result of the relay was our class’s crushing defeat. On top of that, we only managed to come in third place out of five classes in the overall standings.

Seeing such half-a**ed result, I didn’t know what to feel. Should I be disappointed? Should I be happy about it?

“Well, at least we aren’t dead last!”

Meanwhile, Motoyama seemed to be happy about the situation. Even though he was the one who shouted the loudest about winning the whole thing, he accepted the result quite easily.

By the way, the overall winner was Suzuno’s class, thanks to her amazing performance (she was also the ace in the relay, the highlight of the event). But, she didn’t seem to be in the mood to celebrate it. During the award ceremony, in contrast to her classmates’ joyful appearances, her eyes were cold.

As for me, I didn’t care whether we won or lost in the first place. I was too tired to think.

It was early June, but the ground was bathed in strong sunlight. Under the heat, I had to run around giving instructions to my classmates. Not only that, I had to cheer them on too. I had to keep doing my tasks for hours. It was my first time being this active, so it was a given that I’d feel this exhausted.

I was a member of the going-home club… This kind of physical labor didn’t suit me… Ugh, I felt like dying…

Suddenly, my vision darkened.

My body felt so heavy.

I crouched down where I stood.

The students around me noticed my condition and started to make a ruckus. Shortly thereafter, the teachers rushed to the scene. Then, they carried me on a stretcher. Because of me, the award ceremony was interrupted.

I made myself stand out again…

Such things came to my mind as I was trying to fight off the nausea that I felt.
