“Huh? Yamaoka-kun?”
I ambushed Suzuno when she came out of the gym.
At first, I didn’t want to do it because I didn’t want to be a nuisance. Motoyama pressured me to come, and he wouldn’t stop bugging me, so I came.
I knew that I shouldn’t have given in, though.
It was hard to tell it was her from a distance; the current Suzuno looked like a real actress.
She was out of my league.
“…Good work.”
That was all I could say to her. On a normal day, I’d be able to make up a string of praises for her, but now I was simply too overwhelmed to say anything else.
“Thank you.” She said, beaming.
Suddenly, a petite girl came between us.
“Hehehe, isn’t she a beauty? I’ve always wanted to dress her in this costume!”
The girl was wearing our school uniform. Her round eyes sparkled as she held the witch’s cloak in her hands. She was like a small animal, scurrying around like a rabbit or squirrel.
“The costume belongs to this girl’s sister.”
Suzuno said as she lifted the hem of her dress. The other girl then puffed her chest proudly.
“Yes! My sister is a coser!”
“Coser?”
“Ah, you don’t know? Coser as in cosplayer!”
The people who dressed up as anime characters? That explained why the costumes were of high quality.
“I asked my sister to lend it to me! I mean, it really fits Natsuhara-san! She’s Insta worthy!”
“Insta, what?”
Unfamiliar words kept popping out. Luckily I studied English, so I could pronounce them without difficulty.
“Ah, sorry, I talked too much, didn’t I? Anyway, I’m Momotani! You can call me Momo-chan!”
“Eh? Ah, yes…”
“You’re Yamaoka-kun, right? The representative of class 3, and Natsuhara-san’s boyfriend?”
“What? Who’s boyfriend?!”
I shook my head, but Momo-chan didn’t believe my words at all.
“Anyway, I did her makeup too! The blue eyeshadow fits her perfectly, it’s amazing! She’s a rare breed of middle schooler, she’s amazing, I can’t even find other words to describe her!”
“U-Uh?”
“Hehe, you want to take a picture with her, don’t you? I get how you feel! Honestly, I’d rather her get changed quickly because I don’t want to get the dress dirty, but I can’t exactly refuse the boyfriend’s request, can I? It can’t be helped, so quickly, take your pictures!”
“Eh?”
“C’mon, hurry up!” Momo-chan said as she pushed my stiffened back.
