The Happiness That The Shinigami Gave Me - V2 Chapter 18
Volume 2 Chapter 18
Time passed. Summer vacation had already ended and the new term began. Everyone was excited for the upcoming festival in autumn.
I swear that it was just the other day that we had the sports festival and now I had to deal with another one. The school always nagged us to study, but why did they keep holding these festivals? Just let us study!
Sure, I was the class representative, but I had no interest whatsoever in those festivals. Then I heard about what Suzuno’s class was planning to do for the festival. That made me look forward to it.

“I’ll look forward to your performance, Suzuno.”
On the day before the cultural festival, Suzuno and I walked home together.
Since most of the clubs’ activities were suspended due to the festival, Suzuno had been holed up in her classroom, rehearsing.
“Stop it! You’re just giving me more pressure, Yamaoka-kun! Why are you doing this? You did this at the tournament last time too!”
I just told her “You’re going to win, no?” back then. And she really won the thing. What was the problem?
“I’m just telling you my honest feelings, though.”
After all, this was probably my first and last chance to see Suzuno performing on stage.
During the festival, each class had to choose either to open up an exhibit in their classroom or perform something in the gym.
Suzuno’s class would be performing a play.
“They made me a witch! A witch! The last boss of the story! They really didn’t hold back.”
Despite her complaints, her expression was gentle.
On the outside, she said things like these, but the truth was, thanks to her being casted, she had the chance to talk with her classmates more. At the very least, she wouldn’t feel the suffocating loneliness that she felt back at the sports festival.
The melonpan keychain swayed carefreely on her bag. Thanks for looking over her for me, buddy. Keep up the good work.
September was coming to an end, but the summer wind was still pretty much present. The sun had started to set earlier. One after another, the seasons were changing.
“I envy you, Yamaoka-kun. Your class doesn’t have to perform!”
“I know, right? I don’t have anything to do after we’re done preparing for our exhibit, so I’ll be able to focus entirely on seeing your performance.”
“Sure, sure.” Suzuno glanced at me before smiling.
“I don’t mind you watching me, but I think you’ll be surprised after seeing our class’ performance.”
“Huh? Why?”
“It’ll ruin the fun if I told you.” After saying those words happily, she turned her face away from me.
