The Happiness That The Shinigami Gave Me - V1 Chapter 9
Volume 1 Chapter 9
It was a Friday at the end of April.
The sky was clear and I was going to school like usual.
It took me fifteen minutes to walk from my house to school.
Normally, I’d avoid the crowded streets and go through the residential area behind the school. I wanted to visit the convenience store today though, that was why I went through the Yoganakamachi-dōri instead.
“Meow~”
When I finished shopping and walked out of the store, I heard a faint meow.
There was a black cat by the entrance. It wasn’t wearing a collar and its tail was strangely long.
‘Stray cats are rare in this area, aren’t they?’
As I was staring at it, the cat turned its head around. It went to a street corner along the right side of the convenience store and disappeared.
“…Is that little guy injured?”
The way it walked looked awkward. When I took a closer look at the cat, it looked thin and some part of its tail was furless.
“Wait.”
I couldn’t let it go like that, so I chased after it, knowing that I went off in another direction from school.
“C’mon, wait for me. Aren’t you hungry? Or do you want milk instead of food?”
It lost so much weight. It probably wasn’t eating well. It must be tough to live like that. I knew the feeling because I experienced the same thing.
I followed it slowly so that I wouldn’t startle it, but the black cat never turned around. It climbed up a short slope, as if it knew exactly where to go.
There was a small park up the slope. The black cat casually went there.
Strange. I rubbed my eyes.
I never knew there was a park here. From its appearance, it seemed like even children wouldn’t come there to play. The place was small and was overgrown with weeds. The slides and such were rusty.
But somehow, the morning sun made the place unnaturally stand out.
While squinting my eyes, I entered the park.
Then,
The black cat stopped in front of a certain girl.
Wearing her sailor uniform, the girl sat down on a bench.
“Come here.”
The girl, my fated girl, called out to the cat.
Her black hair reflected the morning sun. The shades around her enhanced her beauty.
“Natsuhara Suzuno-san…”
I unintentionally muttered her name.
