The Happiness That The Shinigami Gave Me - Final Volume Chapter 7
Final Volume Chapter 7
“Oi~! Yuuma~!”
Someone knocked on the door to my room.
“I’m awake!”
It was the first day of summer vacation of my first year of high school. The time was four in the morning.
When I opened the door, Kento was standing there, already dressed up to go outside.
“Oh, you’re all set already.”
He waggled his car key around. Kento was already a college student with a driving license. Today, we were about to go fishing.
“Fishing is fun.”
He laughed as he said that while driving. His friend introduced him to fishing and he was hooked by it ever since.
“What if we fail to catch anything?”
“Then we’ll laugh about it.”
After that incident, we started talking to each other. Our conversations came so naturally, it was as if the time when he used to pretend that I didn’t exist was a lie.
“I was ignoring you, wasn’t I?”
At one point, Kento confessed everything to me.
“Back then, I really didn’t know what to do. When you first came to our house, I was stressing myself over my middle school entrance exam and once that was over, I noticed Anna seemed to be on edge over something.”
“I didn’t know how to treat you. There’s no way that I could treat you like how I treated Anna and if I treated you like a friend, it would be awkward if anything. I was indecisive and ended up not doing anything,” he continued.
“Also, you’ve never tried to talk to me.”
He was telling the truth. I was too scared to talk to him, so I just ignored him.
“If you tried to talk to me even once, I’m sure I’d answer you.”
“I don’t know, that seems unlikely…”
“You f**k, don’t get carried away.”
I never woulda expected that the day when I could joke around comfortably with him would come.
“Well, at this point, it’s impossible for us to act like siblings,” he said. I agreed with him.
“I guess we can be friends. Friends with an age gap and live in the same house.”
“That sounds about right. I like that.”
There was no need to force ourselves to treat each other like family. After all, relationships came in many forms.
What about Anna, you asked?
Well, ever since the time when Suzuno came to our house, she was angry at me for some reason.
“How did you get such a pretty girlfriend? Unbelievable!”
As I scratched my head, unsure on how to reply to her words, Kento assured me to not worry about it.
“That girl treated you badly when you first came in and it was hard for her to change that. Nowadays, that’s just how she shows her affection to you.”
With that analysis, he just angered her even more. She moved closer to him and hit him, but he just patted her head calmly.
“You know, you’re already a middle schooler, right? If you keep acting like this, everyone will treat you like a villainess and stay away from you. Why can’t you be more honest with yourself? If you like someone, just tell them that you like them.”
“I don’t like him! Shut up!”
“Get on with the time, being a tsundere in this day and age? Really?” He teased, making her even angrier than before. Their exchange was so funny that I let out a hearty laugh.
