Chapter 45: The School Festival of Saijo High (2)

“Yoshizumi! Come and buy something!!”

As I was approaching our class stalls, a loud voice called out to me.

“Hayakawa-san, you’re a vendor? (Hiroto)

It was a familiar face. He was a sophomore and a pitcher on the baseball team, but he seems to have been demoted to the vendor of the hotdog stall.

“Yeah, it somehow turned out this way. There’s too many food stalls today. Yakisoba, takoyaki, and many others… it’s a little hard to sell.” (Hayakawa)

“Takuma’s class is also selling takoyaki. But even though you say that, you seem to be having fun.” (Hiroto)

“Well, it’s something we don’t usually get to do. You should buy something to help out!” (Hayakawa)

Since I’m going back to our stall, I might as well bring some snacks to Yoichiro and the others. A little compensation for making them dress up…

“Sure, I’ll take five of your hotdogs. I’m going to bring them to my classmates.” (Hiroto)

“Coming right up! Thank you very much. Speaking of your classmates, there was a lot of noise at the chocolate banana stall just now.” (Hayakawa)

“Something happened…? I should head back then, thank you for alerting me.” (Hiroto)

After receiving the food, I rushed back to where our stall was. Sure enough, the stalls were noisily packed with customers.

“Come onnnnn! Let’s go!” (Nishikawa)

“Calm down… don’t pull my clothes…” (Yoichiro)

Arriving at our stall, I immediately frowned. Unlike all the other stalls… ours had no customers. Ando and Sanada looked bored, both lying around on a chair. And… Yoichiro was slowly being dragged away by Nishikawa-san.

To top it all off, Yamada-san was actively trying to stop Nishikawa-san, pleading while holding her arm. Aizawa-san noticed my arrival and gave me a troubled look.

“Aizawa-san, what exactly is going on…?” (Hiroto)

“Aya-chan is asking your friend to leave with her…” (Haruka)

“I don’t mind but, isn’t he still on store duty? I’ll ask them.” (Hiroto)

Taking a closer look at the mess, I found Tanimura-san having a conversation with some boys in the back. Shortly after, they all ran off.

“Tanimura-san, did something happen? Those guys seemed to be in a hurry.” (Hiroto)

“Everything is fine now, Yoshizumi-kun, something unexpected just came up. (Tanimura)

“Everything is fine… but how come we don’t have any customers?” (Hiroto)

“About that… we sold out and ran out of bananas. I just spoke to some of my friends and had them rush to the supermarket to get more supplies.” (Tanimura)

Turns out it wasn’t trouble, but the exact opposite. Now that I think about it, Ando and Sanada looked strangely tired and burnt out.

“I’m glad to hear that. I spoke with a member of the baseball team and they said their sales weren’t looking good.” (Hiroto)

“They’re selling actual food, right? Apart from a nearby coffee stall, ours is the only one selling dessert, so that might’ve been why we sold out tonight.” (Tanimura)

I silently praised Tanimaru-san in my head. Focusing on dessert ended up being a great suggestion.

“Looks like you’ve all been working hard. I bought some food for all of us, so tell everyone to take a break. Can I help out with anything, I’ll be free until the afternoon.” (Hiroto)

She gave a small smile.

“Seems like you have a considerate side to you after all, Yoshizumi. We were planning on taking a little break until the bananas arrived, anyways. You might want to check up on the others, though. Yoichiro seems to be in trouble…” (Tanimura)

She has a point, I should probably get around to that.

After thanking Tanimura-san one last time, I headed towards Yoichiro.

“Yoichiro, we have around two hours of free-time. Since you’re with Nishikawa-san and the others,  why don’t you give them a tour? They gave us a tour last time, after all.” (Hiroto)

Hearing my voice, he jolted his head around, giving me an expression of despair.

Hey… don’t give me that look…

“Yoichiro, you don’t have a choice, do you? This is the best case scenario…” (Hiroto)

“Hiroto… I understand.” (Yoichiro)

After giving me one last glare, Yoichiro disappeared.

Well, to be precise; Nishikawa-san dragged him away. Yamada-san also left with them, probably to try and calm her down.

Also, Yoichiro never removed his cat ears. Hopefully he realizes soon. 

“Is Nishikawa-san usually like this?” (Hiroto)

“I don’t think so… I’ve never seen Aya-chan act like this before.” (Haruka)

“I see… will you be leaving with them as well…?” (Hiroto)

“Yes… they’re my friends. Yoshizumi-kun… I was wondering…” (Haruka)

“What’s wrong, Aizawa-san?” (Hiroto)

“No… it’s nothing. I’ll be going too, then…” (Haruka)

I was also free for the next few hours, but it seemed selfish for me to try and separate Aizawa-san from her friends.

I knew that…

But…

“Wait! Aizawa-san… if you want, I can give you a tour around the school. I’m free until later.”

I made up my mind.

Aizawa-san froze for a moment, and then quickly turned around to face me.

There was a smile on her beautiful face, and she seemed a lot more cheerful than before.

“If you’re willing… then I’d be more than happy to! Please wait for me to tell Aya-chan and the others.”

“Take your time, there’s still a while until the afternoon.”

As she contacted Nishikawa-san and Yamada-san, I couldn’t help but think about what I just did.

I wonder if inviting her was the right idea…

According to Nishikawa, Aizawa-san already has someone she likes…

And for me… I’m also still thinking about Haruka.

I feel like my emotions are getting scrambled.

I haven’t felt like this for years, so I don’t know how I truly feel about Aizawa-san.

But… I can’t help but want to be with her.

While silently trying to organize my thoughts, I waited for her conversation to end.
