Chapter 3
After school, I dashed home as I had no club activities to attend.
As a second-year student, you have to become a central figure in club activities, and even though my friends and I are all working hard, what a mess.
However, as I told them, even if I didn’t want to play ball games, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to join the club or not.
However, when I was injured in a club activity in middle school, it was very difficult for me to do anything, and so I decided not to do it again.
The first-year students who were not yet thinking about joining a club were going home in the same way, so I joined them and made it look as if we were in the same group. It didn’t make any sense, though.
The first thing I did when I got home was to take in all the laundry.
Even though we were a family, I tried to avoid touching the women’s laundry as directly as possible.
After that, the ingredients and recipe books were ready, so I started to prepare dinner.
“I’m home.”
“Welcome home.”
Just then, my sister came home.
“Oh, I’ll help you.”
“Just do your laundry and mom’s laundry first.”
“Yes~.”
My sister obediently began to sort through the pile of laundry she had just taken in.
“Rin-chan came all the way to see me today to say hello.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah. She hasn’t changed, in a good way.”
“Isn’t she cute in her uniform? I know, because she showed me a picture first.”
“It looks really good on her. I mean, there’s nothing that doesn’t look good on her.”
When I mentioned her, my sister’s excitement shot up.
She talked about her as if she were bragging about herself.
“I was wondering if she was going to go see Nii-san since she asked me where your class was. You must have been happy, right?”
“Yeah… I was surprised.”
“What’s with the snappy reply!? You’ve got such a cute girl coming to see you!”
“That’s true, but…”
Sure, I can understand why my sister would say that.
But as you can see from her words, she is speaking on the premise that I do not have any romantic feelings for Rin-chan.
My sister has a very simple way of thinking, for better or worse.
She’s not the type of person who cares much about what others think, as I thought at the time.
I was sometimes taken aback by her boldness, but from my point of view, I envied her a lot.
“Did you tell her anything else?”
“Ermm… No, she came during my short break, so I just said hello. I also told her that I would be supporting her if she needed anything.”
“Well, that’s true I suppose. You two don’t have the time to have a long chat like that~. I mean, you haven’t really talked to Rin that much in the first place, right?”
“Y-Yeah.”
My sister reacted with satisfaction at the fact that Rin-chan and I had been able to talk and make some contact.
Perhaps that’s why she didn’t notice my stammering at the end.
My sister thinks that Rin-chan and I are just acquaintances, that we only talk a little in front of each other.
The fact that she’s so adamant about helping me with my problems proves that she’s not thinking too much about it.
“I hope you and Rin get to know each other better than I do in this high school life.”
My sister laughed cheerfully and told me.
I don’t mean to be conceited, but I can’t help but smile at the thought of that actually happening.
Unbeknownst to my sister, Rin-chan and I have already become good enough friends to have a reasonable conversation.
In the little time we spent together while my sister was away, we started talking to each other more and more.
However, neither of us showed such behavior in front of my sister, so she didn’t know anything about it.
“Well, I don’t think that’s going to happen, you see?”
That’s all I said with a laugh.
My sister smiled and laughed again with a cute smile.
“Rin, I bet she’s really popular. Even when we were in middle school, she was amazing.”
“I told you so. Earlier, my friend said that she was surprisingly cute even in my grade.”
“That’s right~! I bet she got a lot of invitations to be a manager~! I’ll ask her what club she’s interested in!”
As she said this, she quickly pulled out her phone and flicked her fingers quickly.
It’s just like my sister to act as soon as she thinks of something.
It’s because of this personality that Rin-chan was forced to wait at our house many times.
Normally, I would have said, “What’s with her?”, but Rin-chan always said this with a smile.
“That’s the good thing about Saki. She’s genuinely nice and cheerful.”
I’ve heard a lot of people say that, so I guess it’s not a bad thing.
“Fumu. She’s still undecided about her club activities. And since I asked her about her club activities, I told her that Nii-san is from the lazy home-bound club.”
“That’s true, so I can’t help it.”
I can’t complain no matter what they say or do to me because it’s true.
“Or rather…”
“Hmm?”
“Since Rin keeps asking about Nii-san, why don’t Nii-san and Rin exchange contact information and talk?”
“Ueeeh!?”
A huge voice came out. Even I don’t know where that voice came from.
“What kind of voice are you making?”
“Sorry, I just choked. You don’t have to do that much, okay? You can just tell me what’s going on.”
“No, there’s plenty to talk about. It’s a good place to start.”
“No… but…”
“Rin said it’s okay to exchange. I’ll give you her ID so you can add her as soon as possible.”
“You don’t care about my opinion huh.”
After all, my sister’s personality is bold and she doesn’t seem to think anything of it.
