- Chapter 27 - Pool Date 3
Pool Date 3
Aisa took me by the hand and led me to the largest lazy water pool at this facility.
The water flows around the perimeter of the outer ring, so one could enter from anywhere around the outer ring. I let Aisa get into the inflatable float and hesitantly tried to put my hands on the edges of the float.
I made eye contact with Aisa at close range.
“…What?”
“It’s nothing. Sorry.”
I let go and pulled away, but Aisa grabbed my hand and pulled me back.
“…Kouki, you brought this float, so why don’t you also use it?”
“I-I see…”
I awkwardly closed the distance between us once again.
“…”
“…”
We were both flushed and silent. The flowing water swept us around in a large circle.
“Aisa…”
“What…?”
“Would you be interested in going on a water slide?”
“That’s not… impossible.”
“Then, let’s go.”
“Yeah…”
We wordlessly continued to flow halfway around the facility, and eventually we were swept to our destination.
Seeing the couples around us flowing in the same position made me feel strange, as if it also showed our status.
“Fufu…hey, did you just touch me?”
“Eh? I don’t know anything of the sort.”
“Kyaa! You definitely touched me!”
Observing that interaction, I could clearly tell how close me and Aisa were emotionally. Though, if someone asked if I wanted to be like that couple, I’d have to pass…
When I stole a glance at Aisa, I noticed that she was also looking at the couple and that she was blushing.
It’s hard for a man to not get excited when he gets to touch a cute girl… But not now, not here.
In order to cool down my feverish head, I remembered what Aisa said that day.
“I want to do summer-y things, but I haven’t made any promises to anyone yet… I’m not sure I want to go out with the boys… But, since Kouki is my childhood friend, he’s harmless. If it’s just to do something summer-y with him, I would go with him…”
When I remembered how strangely desperate she looked, I felt a strange sense of anticipation. However, it would be better for my mental health if I just took her at face value. That’s right. I shouldn’t get carried away.
The only reason Aisa is with me now is because I’m harmless. That’s what I told myself, and I turned to Aisa again.
“Are you okay? Your face looks red.”
“It’s just hot. Come on, let’s just get in line.”.
As if to cover up her embarrassment, she hurried us to a line for the waterslide.
“W-Wait…”
Aisa was struggling to get out of the float. Probably because she didn’t like diving into the water.
The scene reminded me of my childhood, easing my emotions. I held out my hand for her.
“Thanks…”
After taking the float, I took her hand and pulled her up.
“So, let’s go.”
“Yeah…”
I was surprised when she grabbed my hand and squeezed it, but strangely enough, I didn’t want to let go.
“What…?”
“It’s nothing.”
This was the first time I was certain. The red on Aisa’s face, as she turned away from me, was not due to anger.
