It was on the way down from the Skytree.
“Ugh…”
I saw something I didn’t like. In a word, it was the glass floor. It seemed to be the selling point of the Skytree, and you could even take a commemorative photo of it. I’ve always had a problem with glass floors. I always felt like I’m being sucked in.
“I’ll wait for you. You can go ahead.”
“All right, I’ll see you in a minute.”
Since she’s aware of my circumstances, she didn’t mind it, and took a quick look and came back.
“How was it?”
“The view was as good as ever. It felt like it was sucking me in.”
“That’s what I hate about it.”
After that, we continued on our way, while we exchanged such conversations.
We saw a souvenir shop on the side of the road, so we decided to stop by.
“Hey, hey, look at this. Isn’t it cute?”
Miyu then pointed at a crystal figurine of the Skytree. It’s cute…?
“Well, it has some charm. Do you want it?”
“I don’t know…”
It’s a little expensive (3000 yen), so she wondered about buying it or not.
“Well then, this is a gift.”
I quickly paid the bill and handed her the package. She looked puzzled for a moment.
“Thank you. I’ll treasure it forever.”
She said with a smile. Then, It was a gift worth giving.
After that, we got off the Skytree. The time was past 4pm. It was still early for dinner.
“What should we do now?”
“How about going to the aquarium? They have penguins and stuff there.”
There is a famous aquarium in Solamachi called Sumida Aquarium.
“I want to go! I want to go!”
Then, I headed to the aquarium with Miyu, who innocently said, “I want to go!”. The aquarium was just a few minutes away from the Skytree, and as we entered the building, it was crowded with families and couples.
“There are so many people here, so try not to get lost.”
We proceeded to the aquarium while holding hands with each other. We looked around and saw jellyfish, goldfish, local fish, and various other exhibits.
“What’s this long and thin thing?”
Miyu pointed at the tank.
“Ah, it’s a Spotted Garden Eel.”
“So it’s called a Spotted Garden Eel.”
“Yeah, and it’s one of the specialties of this aquarium.”
Well, I knew Miyu wouldn’t have done her research.
The Spotted Garden Eel is a very long and slender fish that at first glance does not look like a fish. They move their bodies in and out of their nests. (TLN: for more information you can > click here < )
“It’s so cute when it’s waddling.”
“You’re right, It’s so cute.”
Their gestures are charming, and I can see why they’re so popular. But Miyu’s sparkling face is even cuter than that.
“That fish is looking at us.”
“Hmm?”
As I was told that, there was one Spotted Garden Eel staring in our direction.
“Do you think it’s watching us?”
“I wonder.”
I’ve heard that fish don’t have very good eyesight, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they could see us.
As we walked down the aquarium, we saw a tank where penguins were frolicking. When I wondered if they were being fed, they were eating the food that the keepers were throwing at them.
“Wow! They’re so cute!”
Miyu’s cheeks relaxed as she couldn’t seem to resist the cuteness of the penguins. So cute. Miyu, I mean. As I walked around the tank, I saw a huge correlation chart that read, “Penguin’s Private Life!”. Along with the “→” and “♡” marks, the chart showed relationships like “ex-couple” and “dumped”. What the hell is this?, I thought. (TLN: It looks like this > click here <)
“Penguins have all kinds of lives, don’t they?”
Miyu murmured sorrowfully. As for relationships, she has been through a lot.
“Well, penguins and humans are the same in that regard, I guess.”
I didn’t want to say anything too strange, so I ended it with that.
When we left the aquarium, it was past 6pm. It looked like it’s time for dinner.
I heard a gurgling sound somewhere, but when I looked around, I saw Miyu blushing a little.
“Now then, should we eat dinner?”
“How about over there?”
Miyu pointed her finger to a seafood restaurant.
“We’re underage.”
“As long as we don’t drink, I think we’re fine.”
“Well, I’ll ask them.”
When we entered the restaurant, I asked the waiter about it, and he said that as long as we didn’t drink alcohol, we would be fine. That was good, I thought. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we were shown to our seats right away. Of course, we couldn’t drink alcohol, so we ordered soft drinks instead to make a toast.
“”Cheers!””
We clinked our glass. It was still the Golden Week and the real heat had yet to come, but the cold juice felt good.
“It was really fun today. The Sky Tree, the penguins, and the souvenir.”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it so much.”
Then, It was worth the effort to do all that research.
As I was eating the menu, Miyu was looking at me with a smile on her face.
“What’s wrong?”
“Hmm, Nothing.”
“I see.”
I don’t know what made her happy, but oh well.
It was 8:00 p.m. when we left the restaurant, and It’s time to go back to Tsukunami Station.
“Now then, should we go back soon?”
“Yes…”
The slightly sad expression on her face bothered me, but I tried not to worry about it.
On the train ride home, Miyu leaned against my shoulder and fell asleep, as if she was tired. Well, we had a good time today.
“Mhmm…”
As I looked at the side of her while she was saying something in her sleep, I noticed an old scar on her temple. I wondered if it was the injury that she got when she was little.
After that, I was deeply moved by the thought that I had spent a long time with her. (TLN: just marry each other already. Oh wait ._.)
