Chapter 15: “Sleepy Cousin’s Indulgence”
Translator: AJ1703
“Mirei, we’ve arrived already, you know?”
The bus arrives at its destination and I wake up Mirei, who is sleeping in my arms.
“Nnnn… five more minutes…”
Mirei had not had much time to sleep, as she had just fallen asleep.
This made it difficult for Mirei to get out of her sleepy state.
“No, we’re here already. Come on, wake up.”
“Don’t wannaaaa…”
Mirei shook her head from side to side while pressing her face against my arm.
Even though it’s cute, it hurts to know that everyone’s eyes are on me.
Especially the boys were getting very jealous.
“Ahaha, you guys really get along, don’t you?”
“It’s not funny…”
I let out a sigh as Murakumo looks at me with amusement.
“That’s fine, it’s a boyfriend’s privilege, isn’t it?”
“Not many people enjoy being envied, you know.”
I shook Mirei’s body as I replied to Murakumo.
After about a minute of shaking, Mirei gave up and opened her eyes.
“I’m still sleepy…”
“You still feel sleepy because you only took a short nap.”
“It’s because Kakeru is such a tease…”
Apparently, sleeping didn’t fix her mood.
It seems that she still holds a grudge against the Daifugou games.
“I’m sorry about that, okay?”
I patted her head and soothed Mirei.
This makes the people around us look at me even harder, but I can’t help it, because my priority is to fix Mirei’s mood.
“They’re flirting…”
Somehow, Hanamaki-san was looking at us through the gaps between her fingers while holding her hands to her face.
Her face was red and she looked curious.
“Kakeru-kun, you’re supposed to be firm on your guard, but very lenient with anyone who gets past your defenses, aren’t you?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, you’re usually cold, but you’re very sweet to your favorite girl.”
Am I as cold as you say?
Well, I am aware that I have a bad character.
Also, Mirei is not my favorite, she is my cousin― as expected, I cannot correct her misconception in the presence of other students.
Above all, I can’t tell Murakumo about it because I don’t want her to take a strange interest in me.
“Well, it’s time to get off.”
The students start to get off in order from the back, and when most of them have gotten off, I remove my hand from Mirei’s.
This made Mirei’s cheeks puff out in dissatisfaction, but as expected, I couldn’t just keep stroking her like this and be late for the lineup.
My plan was to avoid bothering other people as much as possible.
“Hey, Kakeru-kun.”
As I was getting off the bus, Murakumo called out to me.
“What’s the matter?”
“I was wondering, or rather I had always wondered― what’s your connection with Miss Arisugawa?”
Probably because other students than me, Mirei, Hanamaki-san and Murakumo got off first.
Murakumo asked me a bad question, as if she had been waiting for the right moment to ask me.
“What does this have to do with Murakumo?”
I’m not going to respond poorly.
It’s not that I can’t make up a reason or a story about when we met, but if I try to give her information, Murakumo will come up with an answer.
I’m sure she’s convinced that Mirei and I are not lovers, and I have no intention of letting her probe further into the matter.
“Don’t be stingy, aren’t we on the same team?”
“I don’t think we’re as close as you say, though, do you?”
We just talk a lot.
However, that’s only because Murakumo is always nearby.
“Ahaha, you’re the only one. Only you treat me so crudely.”
“Why do you look so happy about it though…?”
I look at this happy Murakumo, and I pull back slightly.
She’s forgiven due to the fact she’s a beautiful girl, but I’m not sure I’d be able to befriend a boy like this.
“Oh, um, you two, we need to get off…!”
Hanamaki-san, perhaps thinking that the mood between me and Murakumo was sour, hurriedly urged us to get off the bus.
We weren’t really quarreling, but seeing Hanamaki-san’s flustered look, I began to feel sorry for her.
“That’s right, thank you for that. Hanamaki-san, you can get off first.”
I yield the spot and urge Hanamaki-san to get off.
“Err, thank you…”
Hanamaki-san looks uncomfortable and starts walking forward.
“Murakumo as well.”
“Fufu, thank you.”
Murakumo got off first, and it was just me and Mirei on the bus.
“Mirei, we’re getting off, are you awake?”
“I’m sleepy…”
Apparently, Mirei was still unconscious during the exchange.
She was rubbing her eyes sleepily.
“Hey now, it’s time to snap out of it.”
I lightly slapped Mirei on both cheeks as we got off the bus together.
