I Was Hired As A Tutor By A Cute Little Devilish Junior - Chapter 5 Raining Day
The weather today was clear and sunny.
There was not a cloud in the sky as I looked up, and the air was filled with the warmth of spring.
But…
“It’s starting to rain…”
I muttered to myself as I looked out the window during class.
The sky, which had been clear and blue, was now covered with gray clouds, and it was raining like an overturned bucket.
It was sixth period. After this class, school would be over.
Today, I was planning to study at Shiina’s place like usual. Hmmm, what should I do?
Since it was such a fine day earlier, I didn’t bring an umbrella or even a folding umbrella.
Besides, the rain was too strong.
Even if I had an umbrella, I’d still get wet.
“…Haa.”
I felt gloomy as I listened to the teacher’s voice, which was almost drowned out by the sound of the rain.
* * *
After school.
When I looked at the weather outside, it was still dimly lit.
The rain had weakened a little, but I still couldn’t go home without an umbrella.
The school had umbrellas that could be borrowed at any time; but, as I expected, they were all gone.
There must have been a lot of other people in the same situation as me.
However, I was out of options. I had no choice but to wait for the rain to stop.
Speaking of which, I wondered if Shiina would be okay. I’m sure she’s waiting for me as usual, but I’m not sure at the same time…
As I headed for the student entrance, Shiina, who usually waits at the school gate, was standing in the hallway in front of the shoebox.
“Oh, Senpai!”
Shiina smiled and waved at me as soon as she spotted me.
I raised one hand in return and walked up to her and asked her something I had been wondering for a while.
“Hey, Shiina, you always come here first and wait for me, right?”
“Yes, I do. Is there something wrong?”
“No. I always leave the classroom right after class, but Shiina is always here first, so I’ve been wondering why.”
I think the first-year students were farthest away from the entrance compared to everyone else…
Then Shiina opened her mouth confidently.
“It’s my mission to wait for Senpai. It’s always a crouching start in the classroom.”
“…You’re lying, right?”
“It’s a lie☆”
Shiina stuck out her tongue.
Your mission to wait for me? What are you, my girlfriend or something?
“You don’t have to come so early, I won’t leave without you.”
“It’s okay. I’m waiting for you because I want to wait for you.”
Shiina told me firmly, and I replied with a sigh.
Well, it would be meddlesome to meddle in what Shiina wanted to do.
“Did you bring an umbrella today?”
“No, I forgot it. Did Shiina bring one?
“Don’t underestimate my girl power. Here!”
She took out a cute pink folding umbrella from her bag. I was impressed by her honesty.
And then, Shiina squirmed.
“Senpai, you don’t have a choice. If you want to share an umbrella with me, you should have said so♡”
“I don’t think so.”
“Oh, really? But I don’t think you can leave without it.”
“T-That’s…”
I couldn’t say anything to Shiina’s argument.
It was true that if I waited for the rain to stop, I would not have time to study with Shiina.
All I have to do was share an umbrella with her and go home…
“It’s a bit embarrassing, isn’t it?”
“Ehhh? You’re a little shy, Senpai. It’s okay to share an umbrella once or twice, Senpai♡”
“H-Hey. Don’t get attached to me.”
Shiina hugged my arm as if she was spoiling me while making a catcall.
The stares from the students around me, especially the boys, hurt.
Shiina was outstandingly cute among the first-year students…I think.
This was the reason why many of the healthy boys are targeting Shiina.
And since Shiina was the one responsible for this (by having me tutor her and being obsessed with me), the situation completely fueled the jealousy of the boys.
I think Shiina was the cause of this, but it would be cruel to force her away from me when she was so attached to me.
I really don’t know what to do…
“Senpai? Let’s hurry home~ We’re running out of time~”
Shiina, who hadn’t understood what was going on, urged me
I felt a grudge stab me in the back…
I let out another big sigh. And then
“…All right. I’ll share an umbrella with Shiina.”
“Fufu. Can’t be helped. I’ll let you in♪”
“Don’t get carried away.”
“Ah.”
After hand-chopping Shiina’s head, I changed my shoes and went outside.
Shiina opened her pink folding umbrella. I said, “Give it to me,” and took the umbrella from her.
“Ah, Senpai. I’ll hold the umbrella for you.”
“Don’t. It’s easier if someone a little taller carries the umbrella.”
“That’s true, but…”
“Come on, just get in. You won’t have time to study if we don’t go.”
Shiina came into the umbrella, looking reluctant.
In the beginning, she had a dissatisfied attitude, but after a short walk, she returned to her usual self.
“Mou, Senpai wanted to share an umbrella with me so badly that you wanted to hold it yourself♡”
“You’re back to your normal self.”
I replied to Shiina, half dumbfounded.
I’ve been walking with Shiina hugging my left arm while holding the umbrella.
This has kept me from getting too wet, but to others, we look like a couple.
“Shiina, are you wet?”
“No♪ I’m fine because I’m attached to Senpai!”
“I see. If you get wet, tell me immediately. As a student, if Shiina catches a cold, it would be a problem.”
“I-I see. Then I’ll tell you right away.”
“Yeah, do that.”
The original reason was that I forgot to bring an umbrella, so Shiina put me under hers.
If Shiina got wet because of me, I would feel guilty.
I tilted the umbrella so that Shiina wouldn’t notice, and tried to keep the rain off of her.
Raindrops from the sky and drops from the umbrella wet my shoulder on the other side.
The cold sensation hits my skin through my shirt, but I don’t care.
I walked on, and when I turned at an intersection, Shiina walked on the outer side of the sidewalk.
I wasn’t sure what to do for a moment, but when I saw a car splashing out of the corner of my eye, I moved.
“Shiina, do you have a minute?”
“Heh? Ah.”
I asked her to move away from my arm a little bit, and moved Shiina to the inside, swapping positions with me. Then, I changed my hand holding the umbrella.
Shiina was puzzled, but as if she remembered, she hugged my arm again.
A warm feeling spreads over the arm that was cold until a moment ago.
“Sorry, you’re wet here.”
I tried to pull Shiina away from me, but she stopped me with her hand.
She hugged me tighter than before, rested her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes.
“Shiina?”
“Murakami-senpai, you’re kind.”
“Is that so?”
“Yes. Even now, you swapped places to avoid the car splashing me, right?”
“My hand just got tired holding the umbrella.”
“The reason why your shoulder is wet is that you tilted the umbrella towards me, right?”
“…It’s just that the umbrella was tilted due to my hand fatigue.”
“Fufu. You are not honest, Senpai.”
Shiina shook my shoulders and gave a small laugh.
It seemed that my perceptive kouhai knew everything that was going on.
I felt my cheeks heat up…Shiina kept throwing me off my pace.
“I like that you’re not so honest, Senpai♡”
“Then. I don’t like kouhai’s who are too perceptive.”
“Fufu. Who are you talking about?”
“Who knows?”
The rhythm of the umbrella, the sound of rain.
The softness and warmth of her wrapped around my arm.
“(…Maybe a rainy day isn’t so bad sometimes.)”
I thought about this and decided that I would definitely bring a folding umbrella from now on.
