T/N: The prologue to the revised version because why not? I want to release this alongside the new chapter because it’s so short, but I feel bad for leaving you guys hanging. Also, I don’t wanna to cry alone.
Extra: Prologue – My Beloved Comet
The comet stretched its tail, scorching itself as it approached the sun.
After a tremendous amount of years, decades, centuries or even millions of years, it finally managed to find its sun.
Yet, despite that, the sun mercilessly burned the comet as it got closer. It lamented the horrible treatment it received, but the sun did not care. It ignored the comet’s existence as it continued to drive away the darkness that enveloped the universe. But, the comet didn’t give up. It braved through the suffering with its willpower and finally managed to reach the sun. After greeting the sun that it had longed for, it left to continue his long journey.
If you haven’t figured it out already, both of them had a special relationship.
Just like ours. Our insignificant story started in that library. (T/N: 彗 (Sui) from 彗星 (Suisei/Comet). 日 (Hi/Sun) from 日羽 (Hiwa).
The short hand of the clock was pointing to the number 5. The evening sun of the autumn shone through the window and illuminated the dusty book in front of me.
I slid my fingers through the dust and opened the book’s hardcover. I didn’t know what the title was and I didn’t care. After all, I only read it to calm my constantly irritated mood.
Back then, reading listlessly at the library was the only thing I looked forward to at school.
That was why, when you approached me that day, aside from the usual feelings of surprise, confusion and annoyance, I felt a little hopeful. After all, you were known for your eccentricities. Deep inside of me, I wished that you would be able to change something in me.
“And you managed to change me…”
It felt lonely here. The only sound I could hear was the sound of your ECG.
There was no school bell here and no one was talking inside this room. Like the Sleeping Beauty, you were sleeping in peace inside this pure white room.
Sometimes, I couldn’t help but wonder, what exactly were you dreaming about.
In that dream, were you making your trademark jokes? Were you trying to make someone laugh like you always did?
I hoped that was the case. After all, I didn’t want that part of you to change.
That was why… That was why… I kept repeating this sentence, so that it would reach your ears someday…
“Wake up, please… I miss you…”
Yet, no matter how many tears I shed for you, you never woke up.
This was our story.
The story that went on until the day I died.
The story of my beloved comet.
