Convention - Ch. 2 Four Entropy Ruins
It was cold outside of the ward, it didn’t take long for HuangYuan to be a bit nostalgic for the warmth of the ward nest, and the temperature of the heater.
After Lei Ke left, George kept urging him to get up and come to see the new barley he had grown, he was a patient who could not resist the energetic child, so he had no choice but to go along.
He remembered clearly that the last time he walked in this place was before he left for Dyson Bay, and through the glass window, he could still clearly see the charred instruments remaining in the room, as well as the crystal fragments that had not been cleaned up. What had happened here was vivid in his mind.
But somehow, it felt as if he had been away for a long time in general, nostalgic feelings filled his heart.
Following George’s cheerful little steps, HuangYuan once again came to this underground farm.
He vaguely remembered how surprised he was when he first saw this place, but those crops that half been at waist length now have been harvested, the soil in front of him now spiked with the growth of new seeds. Unexpectedly, the area gives a subtle sense of vicissitudes.
George excitedly took HuangYuan’s hand, singing a rather smooth rhyme while jumping. HuangYuan was still a little frozen and couldn’t keep up
After passing through the several crops, George led HuangYuan to a remote corner, on the edge of the two stones, the thick shadow of a small cave quietly hid, so small that even a short person like HuangYuan could squat and enter the cave, like a fairy tale hidden treasure of the narrow secret passage.
Probably because of this, the last time he came, HuangYuan did not notice this place at all.
George ran up quickly, without thinking, head into the cave that was stacked with shadows, seeing the situation, HuangYuan hesitated for a moment, which bent down and walked in.
This cave was not as long as HuangYuan had imagined, it was less than two or three meters only.
From just shoulders into the passage, the room at the end was not very spacious.
Perhaps it was because of this narrowness, this room had slight warmth that also was related to the structure of the rock wall.
HuangYuan stood up and looked around, and found some rare things looming above a small dirty platform not far away.
George was underneath those rare things, looking at him with a smug face, like a bratty child waiting for a compliment — no, the boy in front of him was clearly a child.
This is…HuangYuan wanted to walk up, and couldn’t help but reach out his hand, wanting to touch the white reflected in the eyes above, but suddenly sharp pain came from his foot — George stomped on him hard.
“Hey! What do you want?”
George yelled and stomped hard again toward the bottom of HuangYuan’s foot, but this time HuangYuan reacted and moved his foot away, causing the bottom of George’s foot to stomp violently on the hard ground and a spasm to run through his body. Well….it seemed that his foot was numb.
“Ah, sorry, sorry.” HuangYuan rubbed his head and said with some embarrassment, “I thought I’m allowed to touch it.”
Yes, it had been too long since he had seen this thing, and for anyone who loved painting and had a sensual heart, this kind of thing had a special meaning.
This thing was the flower.
Since ancient times, apart from fruits and tableware, the thing that has been painted most by painters was flowers.
Probably due to his past memory loss, HuangYuan’s memory of flowers was somewhat vague, and the latest impressions about flowers come only from the black and white illustrations in the library and the fake flowers he saw when he escaped to Dyson Bay, and no flowers were grown in the library. The Professor once explained the reason, because learning only required the color green to relieve visual stress, other colorful colors will be distracting.
Seeing the flowers again, HuangYuan was really very excited, and thus could not help but want to touch the living, fresh petals.
“This ……”
This is, a daylily.
It was really strange, HuangYuan felt that his memory of the flower should have been vague, but still he couldn’t help but say the name of the flower in front of him, as if something had awakened in his brain.
“It’s really a miracle ……”
HuangYuan murmured, indeed, the existence of this flower …… no, perhaps it was more appropriate to say that it was lucky, no matter how one looked at it, the possibilities for it to grow are close to the impossible.
First of all, this place was called Kunlun Mountain a long time ago, he had learned in the library, even before the dramatic climate change, Kunlun Mountain was not a suitable place for human habitation, and after the outbreak of Decomposition, this place became one of the ‘no-go areas’ designated by the Coalition Government, which could be described as a ghost place where not even an inch of grass grows. This was why the Coalition Government has never been able to send a large-scale army to exterminate the Eternal Undead, because the cost was too high.
Although daylilies are hardy and extremely survivable plants, it was impossible to stay alive in such extremely harsh conditions.
And the reason why this daylily could bloom was entirely due to the narrow space and special rock structure that accidentally formed a natural greenhouse, plus the closed space deposited the proper humidity.
“Even in terms of superficial probability science, this is a very low probability, and, this flower, it feels out of place with the surrounding environment ah, as if it was deliberately opened here ……”
“What are you talking about? This is the barley.”
George said, looking at the white flower that hung above the earthen platform.
“It’s the prettiest barley I’ve grown so far.”
“Why do you call everything barley? It’s obviously not the same plant.”
“Then what kind of plant are you?”
“I’m not a plant, I’m a human, a human being, thank you.”
“I’m human too, but I don’t look like you, does that make me not human? Hmph!”
“You’re clearly being sophomoric.”
“It’s obvious that you can’t understand!”
“OK, OK, OK, you say it’s barley, then it is, so are you planning to give this to Mo You?” HuangYuan had already gotten used to what George had to say.
Daylily was also called ‘forgetfulness’ plant, although George was still convinced that this was barley, but he still can’t help but associate this flower with Mo You. Not to mention …… its color was so special.
“Hey? How do you know that?”
“Uhh ……”
HuangYuan did not want to pull any more ‘this was not barley but flower’ with George, thus he could only change his words.
“Because I see that this flower and Mo You’s image match well, both are the same white.”
“Well!” George nodded, “The heroes see the same thing then!”
“But ……”
“But what?”
“This flower …… ah no, barley, I remember should not be all white.”
“There will not be white?”
“Yes, this barley is mostly red, orange, white …… can be really rare, probably a mutation of it.”
“Ah, mutation, what does mutation mean?”
“This …… is a simple analogy, the newborn will be like the mother and father, if the newborn does not look like its mother and father, then it is a mutation.”
Of course there was another possibility, but HuangYuan did not say it.
“So that’s the case …… then I might be a mutation too.”
“Why?”
“I don’t look anything like my mother.”
He said, at which point HuangYuan remembered that he still had absolutely no idea what George’s mother looked like, and he suddenly became a little curious and asked.
“Speaking of which, what does your mother look like?”
“Well …… I don’t remember, but Sister Bebe said that I don’t look like my mother.”
“Don’t remember?”
“Well.” George nodded, as if somewhat lost, “When I used to quarrel with Mo You, Mo You said I was a child without a mother, and then I said that Sister Bebe was my mother, and she said that I was not born of Belita.”
“This …… is that so.”
Mo You, it turns out she was a mouthful a long time ago..
HuangYuan patted George’s shoulder.
“Actually, I don’t know what my mother looks like too.”
“Hey? You don’t know either?”
“I’ve lost my memory, so maybe I could still remember if I get my memory back.”
“Then you can go to Mo You, Mo You is a god, you’ll be fine if you look for her.”
“God ……?”
HuangYuan smiled bitterly, it seems that the people here really take Mo You as a god.
“Can you tell me why the people here treat Mo You as a god? Obviously Mo You can’t even cure their decomposition.”
If Mo You could cure the decomposition, then Belita wouldn’t have to use such a dangerous instrument for the decomposition, right? HuangYuan thought this way.
“What are you saying? Are you doubting Lord You?”
Who knew that when HuangYuan said that, it caused George to get angry.
He showed his childish anger at HuangYuan’s ungodly attitude and stomped on HuangYuan’s feet several times, but of course all of them were missed, and in turn, his feet were numb.
“Don’t be angry, I’m just curious.”
Looking at the panting George, HuangYuan was a bit at a loss for words, and could only accompany a smile, squatting down to give George kneading the blood-filled legs and feet.
“Humph… you actually suspect Lord You! Do you know that Lord You was at the center of the decomposition outbreak!”
“She was in the center?” HuangYuan suddenly froze for a moment.
“Yeah, but she wasn’t infected with the decomposition!”
“What about the rest, did she not contract any other disease either?” HuangYuan hastily asked, his intuition telling him that this could be a big discovery.
But George did not answer his query, raised his fist and gestured twice, and said viciously: “Humph! If this genius did not know you as a person, you would have been beaten into the dirt by this genius now!”
“Okay, don’t be angry, I won’t ask, I won’t ask.” HuangYuan coaxed in a kind voice, “By the way, this flower …… this barley seed, where did you get it from?”
“I found this barley has been planted here already!” George answered with a matter-of-fact look, as if this is more than normal, “but at that time this barley is just a seedling, without the careful care of this genius, it would not grow.”
Hearing this, the HuangYuan raised his head again and looked at the daylily.
This flower was actually taken care of by George, so it seemed that the fact that this flower survived was not something that can be explained by such coincidences as probability science and natural greenhouse.
HuangYuan glanced meaningfully at George.
Could it be that there was some kind of transcendent will in the world that renewed the life of this flower.
Just then, he suddenly remembered one thing, looked around and found that there was no lighting tools, no lights, not even wires.
When he just entered this place, the HuangYuan had not noticed, but now he reacted violently, such a place wrapped tightly by the rock layer, how on earth would it be so bright?
“George, didn’t you bring a flashlight when you came in?”
“No, there’s no need for that kind of thing here.”
His eyes scanned the small space, trying to find something like glowing moss, but came up empty.
Finally, HuangYuan rested his eyes on an inconspicuous corner by the rock wall.
It was hard to describe its shape, like the various squares in Tetris, randomly stacked together; but its irregular angles and irregular curved edges made it look as if it was a natural thing.
However, when HuangYuan touched the obsidian-like shell, which reflected the dazzling light, he suddenly felt that this was undoubtedly a man-made object, because nature would not give birth to something so smooth — at least not on Earth.
The bizarre object was so smooth that HuangYuan couldn’t pick it up with his hands, and it slipped from HuangYuan’s hands again and again and fell to the ground. HuangYuan, who was a little discouraged, found that after many drops it had produced even more incredible changes.
Due to the lack of friction, this object has a smoothness that can’t be held, fell to the ground but as if a sugar cube, the surrounding sand tightly adsorbed. It was thanks to these sands, HuangYuan finally held this thing up, carefully examined it.
Looking at the stone reflected his own figure, he unconsciously traced his fingertips across its chaotic mix of angles of the stone, at the same time, the entire room’s light of those unknown origin all at once disappeared.
At once, the small cave fell into darkness.
“Wow! What’s wrong! It’s so dark?” George shouted in the darkness, “Who turned off the lights?”
HuangYuan lowered his head, and the object in his hand was still clearly visible. Although the color of this thing and the environment of the shade was the same, somehow, this thing just could be seen. HuangYuan has a background in art, on the observation of light and shadow, he was confident that he was still very good. He could be sure that the distorted thing did not glow or reflect, but simply could be ‘seen’.
HuangYuan thought for a moment, then tried to reverse the edge of the prism that he had just scratched with his fingertips.
At once, the impermeable ‘greenhouse’ once again brightened up.
Not this thing was glowing, this space itself has no light source, it just simply ‘light up’. HuangYuan lowered his head, looked at his feet, and couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air.
There was …… no shadow beneath his feet.
George, as well as the blooming daylily on that earthen platform, were also all without shadows.
“What the heck is this …… thing?”
Mo Xiao has to see this……
HuangYuan thought while putting this thing into his pocket, and it was at this time that his finger accidentally scratched one of the prongs of this thing.
The object shook violently, emitting a shockwave-like glow, spreading out in the room from HuangYuan’s hand, and then returned to calm, as if nothing had changed ……
HuangYuan, however, sensed something as if he immediately raised his head, only to find that above his head was a virtual projection, on the walls appeared dense text and strange patterns.
“It’s her! The ghost! The ghost is coming out!”
George looked at the wall with a surprised face, and then looked at HuangYuan.
“What did you do! Get down now!” George said, while holding his head and curling up into a ball.
“Ghost? Her? Who is she! You answer me first!” HuangYuan tried to pull George up in a hurry.
George glared at HuangYuan for a moment, and also began to stare at the wall of those twisted like a pattern of writing pondered.
“These words appeared before, and then, then there was a ghost, holding something, came out, and then, it was gone …… we’d better run!”
“Ugh! It’s so useless to ask you, what about the ghost? What does it look like?”
Just then, almost at the same time, HuangYuan and George’s eyes really appeared something different, a chaotic miscellaneous wave appeared out of thin air, and then slowly swept past their eyes, although very unstable, but HuangYuan was still convinced that the image that appeared in front of them came from a human, and this mass of human-shaped miscellaneous wave didn’t move slowly towards them, and then passed through the two of them, just in the moment of their contact, HuangYuan saw the true face of this miscellaneous wave.
“Yes, it’s you ……,” muttered HuangYuan.
“Who is it?” George, who had been stunned to the side, interjected.
“I know the source of the decomposition outbreak! If my deduction is correct, this is where the Queen’s sister was stationed when she arrived on Earth, and it’s also the point where the Queen later crashed!” HuangYuan was momentarily a little excited, but the next moment once again fell into doubt, “But …… why would a place like this remain for so long?!”
He associated the location of the Palace of the Eternal Undead and began to have a bold hypothesis that this place was originally in a mountain, which was excavated by later people, so this so-called farm was actually inside the mountain.
Thinking of this, HuangYuan said to himself, “Is it really all because of the Queen’s arrival?”
“What are you talking about? Who is the Queen’s sister, and who is the Queen?” George, who was confused, couldn’t understand what HuangYuan was talking about.
Ignoring George’s question, HuangYuan stood up impatiently and said, “Let’s go find Mo You!”
“Wait a minute,” George called out to HuangYuan, “HuangYuan look!”
At this time, the words and patterns on the wall have all disappeared, but the light on the wall has not completely disappeared, a small handful of light as if trapped in the wall, reflecting a strange outline, after a long time before slowly dissipating.
The outline of the shape of the Russian nesting dolls, but has incomparable bizarre features, as if the primitive society created the idol.
“This does not look like a natural formation, it should be a long time ago there was such a thing stuck here, like a fossil on this hard rock wall left traces. Is it caused by the projection just now ……” HuangYuan speculated, pointing to the outline and asked, “George, do you know what this is?”
George glanced at it and replied carelessly, “Oh, that, that seems to be something that was dug out from here before.”
“You mean unearthed? Was this place some kind of ruin before, and then excavated by an archaeological team or something?”
“Well …… I don’t know much about it, I heard it from Sister Bebe, and she also told me to inform Mo You of anything strange I saw. Then, Mo You said, there was a G……G something company here dug out fossils or something.”
“GST?!” HuangYuan was shocked.
“Yes, it seems to be GST, ah, I’m a bit hungry, let’s go eat!” But George didn’t seem interested in the topic.
“No, you wait first, what else do you know?” HuangYuan stopped him with some urgency, “Or what does Belita know?”
“I don’t know, I only know how to grow barley. Lord Mo You said that it was not good to know too much, so you should not know too much!”
“You answer me one more question, has anyone else been here too?” HuangYuan asked once again.
“Well, Lord Mo You have been here, Sister Bebe has been here once, it seemed …… as if Lord Mo You’s sister has also been here once. I heard Lord Mo You mention it once, as if Lord Mo You’s sister did not like this place and left in a huff.”
“Then that’s right!” HuangYuan said to himself with some excitement, his mind recalling the unbelievable stories told to him by the creature in the painting, “If my guess is right, GST should have taken something that might be related to another civilization, and Mo Xiao hates this place, that means this place has a connection with the four entropy stones that would cause her physical or psychological discomfort, assuming that was it. This was really the outbreak point of decomposition, then that can prove that decomposition and the four entropy stone’s have a big connection ……”
He took out the alien thing from his pocket and looked at it, this might also be inextricably related to the four entropy stones.
He continued to say to himself.
“White, white hair, mutation — does that ……” HuangYuan looked at the marks on the rock wall, the weird human face seemed to have been seen somewhere, just then he heard the sound of plastic wrapping paper coming from George.
He looked up and saw that George had been holding a lollipop in his mouth for some time and had no intention of giving one to HuangYuan, and there was a faint sweet smell in the air that smelled like a vanilla-flavored candy HuangYuan had eaten in the library.
So he picked up the wrapper that George had casually thrown on the ground and found that it had the library logo printed on it, and the words “available in-house”, and tasted exactly the same as the ones he had eaten in the past.
So he held up the wrapper and asked, “George, where did you get this lollipop?”
“Do you want to eat it too?” George wrapped the stick around his mouth, then pulled the lollipop out of his mouth and said with while bragging, “Then you go ask Mo You for it.”
“Did Mo You give it to you?”
“Yeah, like last year, some helicopter came and gave Mo You a whole bunch of snacks, like they said it was a birthday present from Mo You’s mom, but Mo You gave them all away to us Eternal Undead, but ……” the little boy looked mystified. “I guess she must have kept a little for herself as well.”
“Mo You’s mother, is the Professor, right?”
Hearing this, HuangYuan suddenly felt as if things were a little different from what he had imagined.
The Professor knew that Mo You was here and brought her food personally? However, from what they saw in Dyson Bay the other day, the two of them had a very bad relationship ……
Why was this, was someone acting? HuangYuan fell into thought, he looked at the bizarre human face, and then looked at the white daylilies on the earthen platform, and suddenly thought of something.
“George, let me ask you, how long have you been growing this flower, no, this barley?”
“How long? I don’t remember, it seems like quite a long time.”
“So it hasn’t withered or anything?”
“What are you talking about? What does withering mean?”
“That’s right, withering is decomposing! Understand?”
Faced with George, who did not even understand this common sense knowledge, HuangYuan was a bit helpless.
“I don’t understand.” George shook his head again.
“Ah ……it is to become old!”
“Oh! Getting old!” The little boy finally heard the word he understood and laughed triumphantly, “It doesn’t get old! Hahahaha!”
“It won’t get old …… how is this possible ……” Hearing these words, HuangYuan completely panicked.
Suddenly, HuangYuan felt the sound of small stones rolling down the side of the rock wall, followed by the ground shaking, along with the tremors that can be clearly felt, George stumbled and fell to the ground, and HuangYuan had to cross his legs and bend down to hold the ground, and then barely did not fall to the ground.
“What’s wrong with this? Is it an earthquake?”
The vibration lasted for about ten or twenty seconds, and then it stopped.
George patted his buttocks, sat up from the ground, and then the first time will be worried about the line of sight to his white barley.
But the HuangYuan was not able to straighten up as nimbly as George, he was still holding one hand on the ground, the other hand on his head, on the ground for a long time, and it looked as if he had just hit his head nn the shock.
But in fact, he did not hurt his head, but felt a dizziness in his skull, as if the shock had just thrown his brain apart, leaving his thoughts in confusion, and in this confusion, he felt he saw some images in a blur.
He felt like he was at the onset of the flu, but it was strange, like there was some broken TV that kept switching back and forth in his head, very erratic.
Those broken images flashed in his mind and gradually came together ……
He saw that there was a woman covered in blood, sitting motionless on a broken chair. HuangYuan did not see the person’s expression, but what he could be sure of ……
“Belita is in danger.”
He jerked his head up and stood up at once.
The woman in his mind was, without a doubt, none other than Belita. He didn’t know what the basis for his judgment that Belita was in danger was, but the images that appeared in his head never seemed to deceive him.
“Hey! Where are you going?”
His movement was so random that even George, who had focused all his attention on his beloved barley, noticed him. But he didn’t answer anything, just rushed out headlong like an enraged beast. George looked at his back and froze for a moment, then instinctively wanted to follow him to rush out, but was then stopped when he saw a flash of white. In such a dilemma, he stayed half a second, then seemed to have finally made up his mind, picked up the white barley and rushed out after HuangYuan.
At this time, the entire Eternal Undead have been blacked out, the evidence was HuangYuan could barely see the shadows, only the floating things in the air near gave HuangYuan some faint sense of reality. As a painter, not seeing the light and shades was giving a lack or realism.
Now, the whole underground farm was relying on the strange thing in HuangYuan’s pocket to ‘maintain’ the lighting.
In this deep underground, it would be unimaginable if not for this strange stone.
He remembered that Belita seemed to have gone to take care of something else when George came to visit. But his instinct — or rather premonition — made him run involuntarily toward the infirmary, and perhaps Belita had returned while he and George were visiting.
They ran, and ran, and soon left the farm, heading deeper into the infirmary. There was no more ball of complementary light ahead, everything was out of sight, and HuangYuan felt like he was entering an uncomfortable maze, but he couldn’t turn back.
Just then, as he was approaching the infirmary, he suddenly heard some strange sounds.
Eerie breathing, heavy footsteps, metallic frictions, and the sound of a heart beating chaotically.
He thought darkly for a moment and scratched the stone in his pocket with his hand, turning off the lighting of unknown principle and hiding himself and George in the darkness.
“What? Why is the light out again?”
“Keep your voice down.”
HuangYuan alertly covered George’s mouth.
Suddenly, he felt that he knew this lean look simply was a little unlike himself.
In the distance, there was a small white light.
In an important place as the infirmary, there was usually a backup power supply, even if the power was out, the infirmary lights should be on. And as HuangYuan expected, the infirmary was in that direction.
He used hand gestures to indicate George to move slowly with him. Although George did not understand HuangYuan’s gesture, he still followed HuangYuan’s movement cautiously.
As he got closer and closer, HuangYuan saw a black figure behind the glass window of the infirmary. But it was also this black figure that made him stop his pace. This stop, made George who was blindly following hit HuangYuan’s buttocks and fell to the ground.
“Ouch …… why did you suddenly stop?”
George yelled and got up from the ground, then by the light of the infirmary not far away, carefully examined the flower pot in his hand. It was something he picked up in passing as he was leaving the farm, running while stuffing his barley into the pot so he wouldn’t break the flower.
“Shh.”
HuangYuan made a quiet gesture at George and looked warily at the shadow in the infirmary.
It wasn’t Belita.
The figure was simply too tall, too big. In his memory, the Eternal Undead had no one of this stature …… No, he’s afraid there wouldn’t be any in the world itself, would there? This figure was really too unnatural, as if a sculpture or a character popping out of the game, the huge shoulder-waist difference formed a pure inverted triangle-shaped figure.
Suddenly, the shadow moved, and he moved as if he had no soul, swaying, not like a living person at all. Although prepared for its anomaly, HuangYuan was still startled when the huge shadow appeared in front of the open window. Even George almost shouted, but fortunately, HuangYuan covered his mouth in time.
“What’s that?”
“No …… don’t know, it’s human, right? Rest assured, we are in the dark, he should not see us.” HuangYuan whispered comfortingly.
The shadow in front of him, cloaked in chainmail, wearing a nose guard helmet, hands like glued together, clutching an axe with abnormal gestures, grimacing as if it were a dead man, shaking his head and pacing back and forth.
And just at that moment, the man in the window turned his head around.
Black hole-like pupils locked straight into the dark depths where HuangYuan and George were.
