Convention - Ch. 7 Honesty Between Three People
Diary Excerpt
“An overly open informational world brings unease to the kind and freedom to the evil.”
The glass was sure to shatter.
I knew this when the currents in the room had not yet begun to flow in a diffuse swarm of flies.
But how did I know? This always bothered me.
I realized that my ravenous mouth is fake. It was not because I said so that these things happened; but because things were going to happen, so I said them, naturally like breathing.
“Don’t press it!”
I knew, but it was too late when I shouted. The old tempered glass was about to break, and even standing fifteen or twenty paces away from it, I could see the dense cracks in the glass.
…… it’s nickel sulfide stones.
Tempered glass has a chance of self-explosion, and the cause of self-explosion is from this nickel sulfide stone. This belongs to the category of defective tempered glass, it is likely to blow up in the rapid heat. So in the tempered glass factory, sometimes they repeatedly heat the glass to execute the defective …… it is also known as the ‘detonation test’.
I wasn’t sure how many volts were on the two electrodes tumbling with purple and green lightning, but I knew the temperature would exceed the mineral test.
The patient was still struggling amidst the raging thick fog behind the glass. We couldn’t hear his screams outside but only could see the palms that vigorously slapped against the glass that signaled his pain.
“The glass…it’s not going to hold ……”
Standing aside, Belita stared dumbfounded at the gradually expanding cracks on the glass, although she is usually not frightened, at this time, her face also revealed a clear unease, trembling back several steps, straight back to my side. She knew very well how dangerous this kind of unstable apparatus made from scratch is, but she had never considered how to deal with this. Because theoretically, the chances of an accident are not high, and like most people who operate them, she has fulfilled only the minimum safety standards. Even if this standard was set by herself, she had to take desperate measures in the face of decomposition.
Maybe I should turn off the treatment equipment, she thought, but what about the patient? It was only by chance that she discovered that strong electrical currents could stimulate the loose molecules that had been disintegrated, causing them to come back together and remain intact. But she had never studied this therapy in depth.
If the treatment was terminated now, the patient would have to suffer far more pain than she could accept, and what awaited him would only be turning to ashes. Belita is just a doctor, never a scientist, without the awareness and momentum to achieve a certain goal at all costs. She was just a doctor and felt that the only one she had the right to sacrifice was herself.
In the moment of her hesitation —
The glass shattered, and the sticky black fluid pushed the shards of glass out like bullets with a shocking momentum. The patient was screaming helplessly, and the scene was as if the gates of hell had been opened and the countless undead inside were screaming and attacking us. I lifted my head and stood still as I watched the disaster raging toward me.
I was safe.
My instincts told me that nothing could hurt me standing in this seemingly mundane position.
With a steady stream of electricity from the two electrodes, the raging black stream lunged toward me. The current stabbed into the bare skin between my clothes and touching my flesh. It was like the wet, cold sensation of walking along a cold shore at night when the tide first missed my ankles. The pressurized current flowed down my muscles and bones, coursing through my body. It was seconds later when I felt the searing pain. During those seconds, I felt the current seep through my three layers of brain membranes, wrapping around my brain like wires and colliding back and forth between the furrowed brain grooves.
I heard someone speaking to me as if the current had changed something.
“Don’t feel any guilt.”
“Death is not the end.”
“Live aimlessly, without any distractions.”
“Do it!”
“What!” I suddenly sucked in a breath of cold air as some fragments of scenes poured out from inside my head, just like when I touched Mo Xiao before, but not quite the same. The scattered things I saw were disorganized and too broken to be organized together, but they were filled with a sense of reality, not the coherent but obscure scenes I had seen when I touched Mo Xiao.
When I recover from the dizziness, I found myself somehow on the ground, surrounded by silence. There was not the sharp sound of electricity, and the patient’s mournful wail was inaudible. I also felt that something was still pressed on top of me.
I subconsciously squinted over to see a man, covered with lurid wounds created by the shards of glass as if he had been machine-gunned.
“Hmph.”
I made a sound with my nose disdainfully. This guy probably wanted to hide under the workbench over there, but unfortunately, he was too slow and acted as a shield for me instead, what a stupid and unfortunate guy.
I tried to pull my body out from underneath the guy but found it unexpectedly a bit difficult because the guy held me tightly ……
Before I pull my body out, I violently turn this person’s face from the cold ground to the right. The person was no other than Belita. She was the closest person to the workbench, so close that she only needed to bend down and hide under the workbench. Then there is only one explanation for the current situation …… she deliberately swooped over to protect me.
“Be…Belita!” I saw that the bandages on Belita’s body were gradually dyed bright red, and some black fluids could be seen escaping outward from the wounds on the affected areas eroded by the decomposition. They were hovering around the edges of the wounds as if they were flies licking the blood. I looked around a bit overwhelmed, and found that the few big men who had just come together were also injured to varying degrees, but they wore thick enough clothes so that the small fragments did not hurt them, and the larger fragments only landed on some of the non-lethal places.
I took a deep breath, without much hesitation, reached out to a large piece of glass stuck in Belita’s back, trying to pull it out.
But before I could exert myself, I only felt the back of my hand being slapped by something and subconsciously retracted.
“Stupid.”
Only to see Belita slowly open her eyes and look at me with a more tired look than usual.
“Are you trying to get me killed?”
“You’re awake! Are you okay?”
“Do I look like I’m okay?” Saying so, Belita raised her hand without changing her face and grabbed my nose, and the weak force made it obvious to me that her current situation was not good.
“Then…then what should I do?”
“It’s okay, these are just superficial wounds, just don’t move it, the blood will stop on its own in a while. But if you must want to help me deal with something then …… that.”
Beretta said, gently moving her neck and looking towards the workbench.
“There’s iodine and alcohol in the drawer there, bring it over for me.”
I nodded at her, and as if I were going to handle fragile porcelain, I gently placed Belita on the floor and then walked quickly to the rotten table that was stuck with broken glass scraps.
The computer monitor set on the table was plugged with an extremely large piece of broken glass and appeared to be completely ruined. I went through the drawers and quickly found two bottles written with medical alcohol and iodine in the large drawer in the lower-left corner of the table.
I took the two bottles of liquid and weighed them. There isn’t much medical alcohol left, it seems to have been used a lot before, I do not know why, my mind sprang up an absurd idea …… maybe Belita spent her idle time drinking alcohol diluted with water for fun, it seems like something she’ll do.
“Ah, yes, remember to get me some water from under the table.”
Just then, Belita suddenly remembered something and said.
“Also bring a bigger cup.”
“…… what do you want it for?”
I was slightly silent for a moment, some helplessly knowingly asked.
“What for? Drinking, of course.”
“This is medical alcohol.”
“That’s okay, I’ll mix it with water.”
“But there are other impurities in it that are not good for the human body.”
“No problem, I purified it myself, I did not put any messy things, of course, the purity did not reach the degree of medical alcohol. Stop giving me so much nonsense, I am a patient, you have to give me what ok?”
After saying that, Belita deeply took a few breaths, as if that big paragraph nearly took her life.
“That’s not very doctor-like of you, well ……”
I shook my head helplessly.
Just as I was about to squat down once again and take out the water and bottle that Belita asked for, I suddenly noticed a chill. My hands felt weak, the glass bottle fell to the ground, clear liquid splashed over the floor.
Only then did I realize that the black fog that had just broken through the glass and gushed out and covered the entire room had dissipated somehow.
I followed the feeling of danger and looked toward the source of the chill, only to see the small room where the glass had shattered, the shadow of a figure rose. This seemed to be the patient, his thin figure was the same as when he came. Two appallingly thick electrodes were still lodged between his ribs.
Belita’s treatment seemed to have worked, and he appeared to be healed. Earlier, half of his body was gone, but now he was maintaining a steady form.
But I didn’t feel joy at all, just a tight frown and a wary look at the man.
The patient also looked straight at me and walked towards me with a hobbling pace. He moved in a strange posture as if he were a puppet. And as if his spine had been broken, his whole body dragged forward incongruously by a force.
“I …… ah …… ah ……”
The patient muttered something, two electrodes inserted in his body tugged at him, but he didn’t care, letting the electrodes tear at his flesh and blood as he slowly but surely approached me.
The distance of a dozen or twenty steps seemed to take him a lifetime before he finally reached me exhaustedly and put his hand on my shoulder. At such a close distance, the funny gas mask looked incomparably scary. I suppressed my inner turmoil and listened to the faint sounds emanating from the gas mask.
This time, I finally heard it.
“I want to see …….”
As soon as the words fell, the arm resting on my body suddenly disappeared, along with the whole body, like a weathered stone blown away by the wind, disappearing abruptly without a trace, and even the disintegrated black fluid could not be seen. The faint sound that the gas mask made when it hit the ground echoed in the silent room. The only evidence of the person who had just disappeared was a dirt-stained handprint on my shoulder.
Looking at the messy clothes at my feet, I choked for a moment. The one he wants to see is probably his son.
I stood motionless in the guest room.
I was tired after coming out of Belita’s infirmary and should have slept beautifully. But I was haunted by something and had no desire to sleep.
I felt as if I had changed.
I don’t know when, it seems to begin in Beretta’s office …… but I did change.
It is not an easy thing for people to notice their changes, the person involved is unaware, the onlookers are clear. If one can perceive the change in oneself, then one can only say that there is a big change. Is it because of the current that burst when the accident happened ……
“Death is not the end.”
Although I didn’t say this, it was indeed what was going through my head as I stood in front of the vanished man. In hindsight, it seemed like a terrible thing to feel indifferent in the face of a living person’s disappearance.
I stood in front of the mirror and examined my face.
This face was not any different from the one I had seen in the Library room not long ago. But it looked even stranger than before.
Come to think of it, I didn’t even know what kind of person I was or what my past was. Maybe that’s a good thing, but it also means that the person I am now can’t be considered the real me. Just like a beast that doesn’t feel hungry isn’t a real beast. Honestly, from what I’ve learned from being with other patients and from what I’ve learned about being a person, I don’t think I am a bad person now, I don’t want to be a bad person, and I don’t know if I was or will be a bad person. Therefore, the only thing I can do now is just pray that I will never change.
“Knock, knock, knock.”
A sudden knock on the door interrupted my thoughts.
I frowned and replied softly, “Come in.”
However, there was neither the sound of a lock turning nor the sound of an attempt to open the door. All that responded to me was silence.
“Come in, the door is not locked.”
I said again, but there was still no response from the door. Maybe it’s Lei Ke, I thought and was about to walk up to open the door when I was stopped by a voice from outside the door.
“There’s no need for that.”
The voice at the door sounded familiar, I hadn’t heard that voice for some days.
“It’s you, what’s up.”
I asked calmly while feeling really out of sorts with my speech. Maybe the person on the other side sensed it too.
“Ahem, come in …… in and sit down first.”
So I cleared my throat and tried to be a little softer to make myself seem welcoming. Although this made me feel a little awkward.
“No, I just came to inform you of something.”
“Why don’t you come in? Are you hiding something from me?”
The voice behind the door fell into silence as if my words had poked her in some sore spot, leaving her speechless. All of a sudden, I regretted that I seem to have said the wrong thing again.
When I was thinking of what to say to make up for it, the door suddenly opened.
Mo Xiao stood outside, looking at me with the same haughtiness as usual.
“Do you want girls to come to your room that badly? You’re hopeless.”
“Ha …… ha ha ……” I rubbed my head and laughed bitterly. I hurriedly welcomed Mo Xiao in, moved another stool, and handed it to Mo Xiao as respectfully as possible like the past.
“It’s not my room…I’m just living in it ……”
“No, it is from today.”
Mo Xiao walked to the stool and sat down, crossing her legs.
“I’ve made a deal with them, from today on we’re also members of the Eternal Undead.”
“That’s… that’s great, we’ve found a place to stay.”
I smiled, a smile that even I felt was very raw.
After rethinking my actions in the past few days, I found myself like a headless fly, without any purpose. Simply just blindly following Mo Xiao. I still remember why I was following Mo Xiao, but now I feel that those thoughts were very stupid, simply instincts in distress. But I didn’t say it. Although there were many more questions I wanted to ask Mo Xiao, now is not the time for them.
“So, what was the thing you wanted to inform me about?”
To hide my awkward smile, I had to pull the subject aside.
“There’s a welcome party tonight at ten.”
Mo Xiao said taking her eyes slightly away from mine for a moment.
“Remember to come to it, it’s kind of being held to celebrate our induction.”
“I understand.”
“Hmm.”
With that, Mo Xiao stood up from her chair, turned around, and was about to leave, but stopped again before she left the room and turned back to me and said.
“There is still a lot of time before ten o’clock, you can sleep for a while, this kind of party is the most exhausting.”
Without looking back, she headed out, but before she took the last steps out of the room, I quickly step up and pulled her to a halt.
She seemed a little surprised that I made such a move and looked back at me with some surprise, but didn’t expect me to reach my hand directly to her shoulder. Before I touched Mo Xiao, a strange twist was created at the side of her neck, which then turned green again. It was Newton, who had just been hiding next to Mo Xiao’s neck.
“What is this?”
I asked Mo Xiao seriously, while Mo Xiao threw her head to the side and used her hand to cover a large bruise on her neck that had been revealed after Newton’s escape.
“It’s nothing, I bumped into something.”
“How can you bump your neck.”
“It’s none of your business.”
With these words, Mo Xiao shook off my hand and disappeared into the corridor quickly. Things fell apart, and Newton, who had been hiding the bruise for Mo Xiao, climbed onto my shoulder, made an offensive face, and quickly disappeared as well.
It wasn’t an ordinary bruise, because the moment I touched her, a strange thing came to mind. I was going to conceal the idea because I couldn’t figure out what the bruise on Mo Xiao’s neck had to do with that thing.
A small room, dim lighting, and simple furnishings.
The decor reminds me of the stargazer in Dyson Bay. What happened to Professor Chen and the little girl in the end? Did Wakatsuki silence them? Although I only met them once, I can’t help but feel saddened by their end.
I looked at the clock hanging in the house, this clock is very much like the one I had in the library ward, so I have an inexplicable sense of affinity.
It was 10:47.
As for the result, are we the only two people at this welcome party, what are we doing? Welcoming ourselves? I glanced at Mo Xiao with this thought.
Mo Xiao has only maintained the same posture since a while ago, propping her chin up with her hand, not knowing what she was thinking.
The two of us have been in this room for a long time, and neither of us has said a word, which creates an awkward balance. It made the tense mood even more uncomfortable.
Luckily, after the wall clock had rung eleven times, the room was filled with music.
Fly Me To The Moon? How could it be this song?
I just subconsciously glanced at Mo Xiao and did not question out loud. Now it seems that the leader of the Eternal Undead, the white-haired girl, must have an unusual connection with the library. If I had to say so, she looks more like the professor’s daughter than Mo Xiao from her appearance alone.
The sound of rustling footsteps finally came from outside the door.
The door of the room was pushed open, and the small deity barged in with light steps, followed by the large butler as usual.
“Yo! I’m here!”
She barged happily into the room, then peered around for a moment and her expression stiffened.
“Hey …… what’s going on with you guys?”
She stared at Mo Xiao and me for a moment, discontented that things weren’t going the way she wanted them to.
“An hour, a man and a woman in the same room alone and you guys didn’t do anything? I’m so disappointed!”
Saying so, this petite god put her face in front of mine.
“Hey, hey, you’re a boy, right? Take the initiative, okay? Don’t be so shy, huh? Wouldn’t it be pointless for me to deliberately arrive an hour late?”
“Stop putting on a show.”
Mo Xiao indifferently stopped the deity’s scolding.
“You still have business to do, don’t you?”
“Business? What business?”
“Of course it’s sleeping, Missy.” The large man in the back interjected. “Kids are supposed to go to bed before ten o’clock.”
“You shut up.”
“As you wish.”
The big man bowed slightly and took two steps back. Carried the petite god onto the couch chair. There were only three sofa chairs in total here. Of course, the big man didn’t seem to have any intention of sitting down, so he stood upright at the side.
The girl known as God sat in the chair, picked up the orange juice on the table, and took two sips, clearing her throat.
“Uh-huh. Today, I am very honored that you two join the Eternal Und ……”
“There is no need for conventional greetings.”
The God was interrupted, and to everyone’s surprise, it wasn’t Mo Xiao who did it, but me.
I leaned back in my chair and opened my mouth to ask.
“I suppose you have other things to talk to us about, right?”
“Other things? You’re overthinking, today is simply a welcome party, as the supreme leader, of course, I have to greet the new arrivals, right?”
“If you want to have a welcome party, only having three people are too shabby.” I exposed her lie with some disdain. “If you don’t tell the truth, I’ll leave.”
“You could try.”
The corners of the girl’s mouth lifted gently upward, and her fingers squeezed the arm of the sofa chair.
“As long as you can walk out.”
Hearing this, I frowned and looked toward Mo Xiao, only to see Mo Xiao cast a kind of surprised look at me. Seemed to be surprised by my statement.
“You, taken the wrong medicine today?”
(TLN: Means that he is acting differently from usual.)
She asked somewhat coldly but did not expect me to answer quickly and moved her gaze back. I didn’t answer either, and my eyes returned to the God.
The girl glanced toward us and shrugged.
“Looks like you guys are the type of people who don’t like to stay up late. So well, let’s get right to the point …… But before that, that who, you don’t know my name yet, do you?” She pointed at me.
“Listen, my name is Mo You, but you are not allowed to call me by this name. You are only allowed to address me as Lord You. Remember it well, if you dare to call me Mo You, I will kill you.”
“Okay, Lord You.” I did not want to cause any trouble again, so I obediently replied. Hearing that name, it seems that she is Mo Xiao’s sister.
“Ah, it’s not a big deal.”
Saying this, Mo You snapped her fingers, and the big man behind her fished out three different colored dice cups.
“He is Tang Ren, my prime minister doubles as the chief sweets manager as well as the grand protector and housekeeper guardian, although he’s not a very important person, I’ll introduce him to you anyway.”
“You flatter me, miss.” Tang Ren said and placed the dice cups in front of Mo Xiao, me, and Mo You.
I opened a dice cup, there were five dice neatly placed inside, I picked up the dice suspiciously and looked at them, they all seemed to be ordinary dice, and there was nothing different in terms of weight. Only one thing that was different from ordinary dice is that these dice were not using dots to express values, but more intuitive Arabic numbers.
“We, are going to play a game?”
I asked.
“Bingo! You’re so smart! I’m going to appoint you as the chief staff officer! Tang Ren! Go find something to drink in Sister Bebe’s room!”
She said excitedly, then turned her head to look at Mo Xiao.
“Sister! We haven’t played this game for years,” Mo You’s expression suddenly became strange, as if something crossed her eyes.
“I remember, we only played once, right?” Mo Xiao said coldly.
“Mm-hmm, last time sister won by cheating, this time I will be extra careful!” Mo You said with wide eyes.
“Whatever, I’ll play with you.” Mo Xiao said back.
“Then let me explain the rules to the newcomer!”
“The name of this game is Big Talk Dice, and the rules are simple ……”
“Wait a minute, this game, I remember that it is often played in bars, why do you suddenly want to play this? Isn’t it a welcoming party?” I was a little puzzled.
“Hear me out, interrupt me again and I’ll cut your tongue.” Mo Xiu laughed, “There are usually two to three players. The game begins with all players shaking the dice once at the same time, cover their dice cup, and secretly open their side to look. Then the dealer will report a number to a player, such as ……”
She said and shook the dice and opened the lid of the cup.
“Well, I, as the dealer, will report a number to you, such as five twos, meaning that the sum of ‘twos’ in the cup we each have is greater than or equal to five, but of course, what I say is not necessarily true.” Mo You picked up another dice cup and shook it, the dice fell.
“Huang Yuan you are the next house, open this dice cup,”
I opened the dice cup and saw that the numbers inside were two twos and three fours.
“If what Mo Xiu just said is true, then there must be at least three twos in her dice cup, which is not very probable.” I thought secretly.
“If you think what I said is false, you can choose to ‘open’ mine, and conversely you can continue to call higher, such as six twos, or five fours, the value can only get bigger and bigger. In addition, one can be used as any number. But if someone calls one, then one loses its universal function.” Mo You said.
“Then I choose to open yours.”
“Okay.” Mo You opened the dice cup, there were three twos, a six and a four inside, it was obvious that Mo You was not lying, this hand was her win.
“I think I probably know how to play, it doesn’t feel like a very difficult game.”
“Your explanation is just as bad as your character,” interjected Mo Xiao who was on the sidelines suddenly. “There’s no point in talking about it, he’ll get it after a few games.”
“Wait,” I suddenly thought of something. “What about the loser, is there any punishment?”
“Hehe, that’s the point of this game.” Mo Xiao said from the sidelines, “It’s being truthful, right?”
“Yes, as sister said, the winner asks the loser a question, and the loser must give an answer without any concealment or deception, or answer no if the loser doesn’t know the answer to the question.”
“Then how does the winner know if the loser is hiding something or deceiving him?”
Mo You smiled and stretched out four fingers pointing to the sky, “We will only play three hands, with the glory of the Mo family as the guarantee, willing to gamble, accept defeat, and never cheat.”
“Good, with the glory of the Mo family as the guarantee, willing to gamble and accept defeat, never cheat.” Mo Xiao on the side followed and said.
At this point I felt a little surprised, I can’t figure out why we are playing this game. I even feel that the rules of this game are simply a bit funny, could it be that the sisters want to pry out any information this way? Then why not just …… I was thinking about it when I was suddenly yanked violently by Mo Xiao and placed down on a chair.
“Don’t overthink things, the game is starting.”
The first game.
Mo You was the dealer, Mo You and I picked up the dice cup at the same time and shook it three or four times and put it down, then Mo You winked at us fervently, “Hee hee, good luck as soon as you come up, four threes.”
I opened my dice cup, there was only one three in it, leaving two fours and two fives, I thought to myself that the probability of ones that Mo You and Mo Xiao have combined being greater than or equal to three was high, so I can’t open Mo You this time.
“Five fours!” I could only continue to call upwards.
“It’s your turn, sister,” Mo You looked at Mo Xiao with a smile on her face.
Mo Xiao calmly said, “Ten fives.”
Ten fives? Is Mo Xiao crazy? I couldn’t help but secretly stammer. The odds were too small, on average each of us had to have three fives, but I only had two fives, so Mo Xiao’s and Mo You’s dice together had to have at least eight fives, which was impossible, and besides, if Mo You had that many fives, then why did she come up and call four threes.
“It seems that sister is as annoying as ever. Do you think will I be intimidated by you?”
“Do whatever you want, the opportunity to obtain information from them is very valuable, each game should be thoughtful.” Mo Xiao said.
Hearing this, I probably understand Mo Xiao’s intention, this kind of forceful call can make the other players fall into a dilemma, if they believe what she said, then the other players can only call out a larger number, which is very unfavorable to them, but if they do not believe the bluff, what if Mo Xiao shook out four fives or some big points …… moreover it is a three-person game, which make the situation inherently intricate.
I want to tell Mo You that there are only two fives on my side.
“Hurry up, my good sister, why are you dawdling? Can not afford to lose huh?” Mo Xiao began to launch a psychological offensive.
“Good, I’ll see if you dare to play like this every hand, open!” Mo You shouted.
Mo Xiao sneered and opened the dice cup, in which four fives and one one appeared.
“Sister’s luck is always so good, I’m a little jealous,” Mo You also opened the dice cup, inside were two fives, one one and two threes.
“How did I forget, one can be any number,” I sighed, “but Director your luck is too good. Four fives and a one equals five fives, and both Mo Xiu and I have fives and ones in our dice, unbelievable.”
“He, the loser is Mo You, me and Huang Yuan will each ask you a question, Huang Yuan you ask first.”
“Uh, let me think carefully,” I understood what Mo Xiao just said, this kind of opportunity is very rare. Under the premise that all three people absolutely can not lie, I want to know my identity and the ins and outs of the Library. The questions asked must be very comprehensive and accurate. One slight error and they would be able to reply ‘I don’t know’, then this opportunity will be wasted.
After some thought, I asked Mo You a question, “I’ll ask, why did I get sent to the library?”
“That question ……,” Mo You laughed.
I didn’t just ask this question casually. From the information I’ve gotten along the way, I’ve assumed the possibility that the Library is not a hospital at all. If it wasn’t a hospital, why would one be kept in it? Knowing this, I have to know the true identity of the Library.
“You really want to know?” Mo You smilingly looked at me, “some things are better if you don’t know, or you might find some fault with yourself, once that happens, one can not eat, and one that can not eat ……”
“Please keep your word! Answer my question.” In the face of Mo You’s attitude, I took out the courage that I had not had before.
“Do you actually want to know ……,” Mo You said after thinking about it. “Although I think it would be better if you didn’t know, are you sure you want to know?”
“Of course.”
“Okay, listen carefully,”
“Say it.”
“Because… you’re on death row! Hahahaha!” Mo Xiu suddenly laughed like crazy.
“Death, death row? Death row inmate? What do you mean!?” I was shocked by this answer, and my mouth kept repeating the word ‘death row’. “Death row? So you mean that the Library is a prison? And I’m a death row inmate? I’m a criminal?!”
“Impossible! You’re lying to me! I’m just a painter, how can I be a criminal, or a death row inmate, I haven’t done anything bad! Where are my memories? I won’t believe anything you say without my memory!”
“What the fuck are you arguing about! Sit down for me!” Mo Xiao slapped the table heavily.
“Sister, he’s so mean, yet he says he’s not a bad person,”
“Don’t mind him, tell me, the idol outside, is it carved according to the woman in the painting!” Mo Xiao asked.
(TLN: Idol is also a kind of statue, but it is worshipped)
“I don’t know.” Mo You deliberately blinked and said.
“Don’t give me that! It’s a miracle you’ve survived this long, you were at the center of the fall a few years ago, think I don’t know about?!” Mo Xiao yelled.
“But what does all this have to do with the woman in the painting, and the idol outside? I just thought it would be fun to have that idol built, look at how magnificent it is!”
“Okay, just you wait.” After the words, Mo Xiao tapped the table, signaling the game to continue.
