Convention - Ch. 3 Eternal Frontier
Diary excerpt
“We have wasted so much energy on things other than exploration that it makes me feel powerless. I had no idea that my colleagues were so short-sighted.”
I woke up from a bumpy ride by the “buzz” sound of the propellers spinning in my ears.
I sat up and felt a little cold. The harsh wind that had been sweeping through the night had almost frozen my face.
“You’re awake?”
At that moment, Mo Xiao’s greeting came through my ears.
I turned my head and saw that she was still concentrating on flying the helicopter, without the slightest trace of fatigue on her face.
“How did you sleep last night?”
“Fine. Aren’t you tired, Director?”
“It’s fine, we’ll be there in a short while. Why are you suddenly concerned about me?”
She said, suddenly using one hand to open the locker under the control desk, from which she pulled out something and threw it to me. I took a look at the object, it was a small glass bottle containing a reddish-brown liquid, the name labeled on the outer wrapper had been so worn that it was hard to read.
“This is?”
“Rosemary Rhodiola, I found it by chance, last night you said you are dizzy and having difficulties breathing. It’s most likely a plateau reaction, our current flight altitude is 400 meters, plus the original altitude, it’s almost 6000 meters or so.”
“Have we flown that high up ……”
I looked down in a bit of disbelief, barely able to see the ground, in addition to the loess, you can occasionally see the remains of some abandoned buildings.
“There’s a lot of problems if we fly too low, anyway, you should drink it.”
“Yeah, got it.”
At her urging, I unscrewed the cap, smelled the taste, which smells like sour rotten fruit. I held my breath, tilted my head to drink the bottle…… I do not know why these pharmacists designed the bottle top so small, I spent a good amount of time drinking the bottle of medication, which left me a mouth full of nasty sour taste.
But after drinking, the dizziness and breathlessness disappeared completely.
“Oh, it works.” I couldn’t help but exclaim that my body seemed to have warmed up as well.
“Is it effective? Is there nothing else you feel?”
“Well, no,” I replied.
“That’s good, it doesn’t seem to have expired.” Mo Xiao laughed and snapped her tongue again as if nothing had happened, only to see her pet named Newton come out from behind her collar and take another bottle of Rhodiola out of the locker, with a straw along with it. The green chameleon in front of my eyes stabbed down the bottle with the straw, then lay on Mo Xiao’s shoulder, holding up the jar of Rhodiola and feeding it to her. I didn’t expect that this godforsaken little guy was quite good at serving people.
“When did Newton follow us here, how come I haven’t seen him along the way?”
“Have you forgotten what Newton is?” Mo Xiao asked rhetorically.
“Oh yeah! It’s a chameleon! Wouldn’t it have been on you since you escaped from the Library, would it?” It dawned on me.
“No, it could have been on you too,” Mo Xiao said with a slight smile.
“That’s amazing, if that’s true, why can’t I feel its weight?” I couldn’t help but wonder.
“Young master, you are starting to turn a hundred thousand reasons why again. By the way, I do have a question for you now.” Mo Xiao suddenly changed her tone, “After leaving the library, have you had any more episodes of illness?”
I was surprised to find that my crow’s mouth seemed to have disappeared, after escaping from the library and experiencing too many frightening events along the way, it is reasonable to say that there should be several episodes. But, apart from the strange dream I had while floundering in the sea, I never had any more of the so-called “intermittent paranoia”.
After learning that my illness disappeared, Mo Xiao didn’t show any signs of surprise, she just drank the Rhodiola without looking back while tinkering with the steering wheel of the helicopter.
“Director, I’m actually not sick at all, am I? Then you didn’t go to all the trouble to bring me out of the Library just because you were on your way, did you?” I asked tentatively.
She was silent for a moment, and the hand that had been moving the helicopter joystick paused for a moment and then said.
“I think I remember saying that …… I was going to take you to hell, right?”
“Said so.”
“As for me, I hate little boys like you who are weak and pretentious on the inside.”
Speaking of which, the corners of her mouth lifted slightly upward, and she snapped her tongue again, opening her mouth wide. In response, Newton tossed the claw-cupped Rhodiola out the window, pulled another lollipop out of her jacket pocket, carefully unwrapped the wrapper, and put it in Mo Xiao’s mouth.
“So ah, I thought of bringing someone like you who’s confined in your world and lives in peace but have not seen how cruel the outside world is.”
“Is that …… so?”
“Yes, but that is not the most important thing.” With sudden changes in her speech. “My mother and I had a bit of a fallout, and you are quite an important research material for her, and I brought you out, so that old woman must have been furious.”
“Your mother is ……”
“It’s the one you call the Professor, didn’t you know?”
“The Professor is your mother?!” This news was so impactful that I screamed out in surprise.
“What’s all the fuss about? Almost the whole hospital knows about it.”
“But you guys don’t look anything ……” I stopped my mouth very wisely at that point. “I’m sorry.”
But she was silent, neither saying politely that it was all right nor accusing me, her eyes wandering to the gray sky as if she was thinking about something.
“Look down more.” Only after a long time did she say, “Don’t you like to paint? You don’t get many chances to look down from the sky, so it’ll help your painting a bit, right?”
I nodded to her and turned my attention to the window. As I was looking down at the monochromatic earth, her approving voice came to my ears.
“Yes, that’s right, see more of this hell.”
Looking down, all I could see were the destroyed remains, the slums of Dyson Bay were heavenly compared to this place. There was not a trace of human life on the ground …… I could not imagine that there would be such a large area of land left unused here.
Gradually, I found the land below muddy up, the original dry ground became somewhat wet, large and small water marshes overflowing densely among them.
I poked my head out and looked, and there seemed to be some scattered things moving around down there. In the barely visible traces of the road, I noticed what seemed to be something black, I stared at the black spot for a while and found that the black spot was moving …… No, to be precise, it should be wriggling.
“What is that?” I asked Mo Xiao, pointing to the black spot.
Mo Xiao glanced obliquely at the place I pointed to and returned a word briefly.
“Bugs.”
“Are there bugs this big here?” I frowned, this is as big as the legendary Chernobyl giant cockroach. Just as I was thinking that I noticed another ‘white’ spot not far from the bug, which was a man, only draped in a white cloak. He was walking wobbly as if he was very weak and could collapse right there at any moment.
“There’s a man there,” I said to Mo Xiao. “He doesn’t look too good.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, the man in the white cloak collapsed next to the ‘black bug’ and his whole body flopped to the ground and turned into a ‘white bug’. At once, I understood that the one just now was not a ‘bug’ at all, but a person, a fallen, living person on the ground.
The people around seemed to be oblivious to the fallen ‘bugs’, still hanging their heads, staggering forward. They seemed to be blind, facing the ground, but could not see the bloody mouth of the murky swamp beneath their feet, as if they had fallen into the belly of the hogwort, in which they sank slowly into the bottom of the pool after flopping twice.
The scattered walkers on the ground, five or six out of ten times they were buried in the belly of the swamp, among the withered and dying rotten wood, helpless plea for help and sighing sounds lingered on. Those lucky ones left who managed to escape the swamp fell in a streak of safe land, stretching for hundreds of miles as if a long strip of anthrax on their skin. Some of these people are still on the ground with their hands mechanically grasping the dirt, slowly wriggling forward, some simply on the ground motionless, buried by the rising sand and in the mud.
Those who are still struggling to walk, do not seem to last long, with crutches, hanging head, moving forward with one step. Even if they happened to catch a glimpse of their companions who had fallen to the ground in exhaustion, they did not stop at all, facing the endless wasteland, moving forward in vain, like moths attracted by the light of a nameless fire. This desperate mood even infected me, who was located four or five hundred meters up in the air.
I glared at Mo Xiao, wondering if she misread it or said so on purpose ……
“I think we should ……”
“Impossible.”
Before the words were finished, Mo Xiao interrupted me, as if she could anticipate what I was going to say.
“This helicopter can only seat two people.”
“But you can’t just leave these people to die!”
“Then how are you going to save those people?” Saying so, she raised her chin.
“These people are ……”
“Pilgrims.” She said in a calm tone as if she had seen this time and again. “Did you know? In the Middle Ages, those Christians thought that if they went to Jerusalem, licked the handle of the Temple, and paid two homages at the Holy Sepulchre, they would be able to cure all their ills.”
“How is that possible, it’s ridiculous.”
“Yeah, it’s ridiculous.” She said coldly. “But there was no medicine in those days, and the so-called doctors were nothing more than shavers who could bleed, so that’s all people could believe in …… these people are the same.”
“Where are they going?”
“To where we’re going.”
“Then why can’t we give them a ride?”
“Does it look like we have room here?” Mo Xiao gave me an impatient scowl.
“So …… can I leave some water or food down there? I remember getting bread and water from the back of the helicopter last night ……”
Even so, I still don’t want to give up on those people below, even if it’s just a little help.
But the only thing that responded to me was Mo Xiao’s snicker. She gave me a blank look and rejected my request without hesitation.
“Why?” I couldn’t help but ask, “We should have plenty of food.”
“So what if there is a lot of it, young master, it’s consumables and they will always run out, do you know much further we have to go?”
“That’s ……” I was speechless.
“Besides, do you know what happens when you throw a piece of meat into the middle of a pack of hungry wolves? When wolves compete for food, they will kill each other and fight, not caring whether the other is the same as them or not. In the eyes of the dying, the only thing that matters is to survive, and I’m afraid these things will discomfort you more if you did that.”
“But ……” once again my words came to an abrupt end, her logic was impeccable, or perhaps I should say I was thinking too superficially. She looked at me for a moment and let out a deep sigh.
“If you’re worried about suffering moral condemnation, then let me tell you a story.”
She cleared her throat.
“Once upon a time, there was a botanist who went on an expedition to Mexico. The dictator of Mexico had arrested exactly twenty innocent people at this time, and out of respect for the botanist, the dictator proposed that if the botanist himself shot one of the prisoners, then all nineteen remaining prisoners could be acquitted. What do you think should be done?”
“It should be ……”
This, if I remember correctly, seems to have been mentioned in the hospital lectures, where the ‘standard answer’ to this question was also stated.
“He should refuse.”
I stammered. If I remembered correctly, it seemed like that was indeed the answer, although I didn’t think there would be a ‘standard answer’ to such a question.
“That’s right.”
Mo Xiao smiled.
“It seems you’re not all sleeping and doodling in your textbook during class. This is the prototype of the trolley puzzle. The right choice is — do nothing and stay out of it. Because once you’re involved in this, you’re responsible for the people who died, whether you saved the other nineteen or not. People don’t lighten their burdens for having saved someone, but they must carry the shackles of having killed someone …… ironic, isn’t it?” as she reached this, I felt the corners of Mo Xiao’s mouth twitch a little.
“I used to, too, wanted to save all of them and never give up on any of them ……”
Halfway through the sentence, she stopped herself, biting the lollipop in her mouth and spitting it out onto the carpet of the plane, falling into silence.
“You must be the same.” Finally, I heard her murmur in a small voice.
The midday sun was getting stronger. Perhaps because I was flying higher, or perhaps because I was bored, I felt a little sleepy under the warm sunlight.
I looked at Mo Xiao, who was still operating the plane, and she was still the same as she was in the morning, with a sub-conscious look, as if she didn’t need to rest at all.
“Aren’t you tired?” I tried to ask her. “You haven’t slept all night.”
“It’s okay,” she said, “I’m used to staying up late and stuff, I once didn’t sleep for 72 hours to catch up on reports and papers.” Her voice is not without a bit of self-aggrandizement.
“72 hours …… aren’t you afraid of a sudden death from sleep deprivation ……?”
“What’s wrong with that, King Frederick II of Prussia only slept six hours a day to get up to deal with government affairs, Edison only slept four hours a day to continue his inventions, and Leonardo da Vinci ……”
“What did Leonardo da Vinci do?”
“Da Vinci is more exaggerated, he only sleeps two hours a day, for which he also invented the so-called ‘Da Vinci-style sleep method’ also called ‘multi-stage sleep method’.”
These people can be considered the genius of ancient times …… I secretly thought in my mind, these rumors I seem to have learned in the hospital’s newspaper and magazine circulated, they are very mysterious. Although the explanation on them sounds right, I have never been too convinced.
“The human brain has a lot of potentials. You know about the brain development rate, right?”
“Well, it is said that the human brain is only developed by 10%.” Of course, this is actually what is told in the hospital’s science article.
“That is a rumor that originated after the blackmail of William James’ phrase ‘the average person only develops 10% of his or her intelligence’.”
“Is that the case ……” I nodded, I had always believed it.
“It’s actually much less than that, probably only 2.53146%.”
Hearing this, I froze, 2.53146%? That’s too much of a difference from 10%, right? Is it true that mankind has created such a glorious human civilization from ancient times to the present with just a few percent of brain development?
“Humph, I can see that you have been scourged by those pseudo-sciences, I will tell you about the ‘common sense’ in this subject.”
Mo Xiao continued again. She put a heavy accent on the words ‘common sense’, it seems that this topic seems to have hit her point of interest. Anyway, we’re idle, I might as well listen.
But before she could say anything, the whole helicopter suddenly shook violently. Was it turbulent airflow? But this place is only 400 meters high, there should not be such turbulent airflow, right? Is there something wrong with the helicopter?
Just when I thought so – I remembered I was a crow’s-mouth, no, no, no, I can’t have such terrible thoughts in my head. I heard the sound of the engine from the back of the plane stalling, and the propeller buzzing overhead was gradually visible through the narrow rotor.
Mo Xiao slammed hard on the console and broke into a cursing fit.
“That dead old man …… is this the price of shorting him a few hundred? I can’t believe he didn’t even fully fuel the tank for me, ah~~~!”
Violent weightlessness mixed with bumps pulled my body, I blacked out, only to feel that the cheek was about to be ripped off by some force in general, the whole helicopter began to seriously tilt.
“Di …… Director! I’m going to fall!!!”
“Let go! Don’t pull my clothes! I can’t control the steering wheel like this~~~~~~”
Before Mo Xiao was able to finish, the helicopter carrying us fell while swaying in the air.
Mo Xiao’s ability to operate a helicopter is average, although I do not know anything about piloting helicopters, from her clumsy appearance when forced to land, she really should just be a novice. If you have to ask why it’s because she landed with her tail fins first. I really thought we were going to be buried in the middle of the desert the moment we landed with the sun shining directly into our eyes.
But fortunately, the helicopter was sturdy enough, and the ground here was soft enough that the helicopter’s tail fins plunged straight into the ground and did not explode, and Mo Xiao and I only scraped some skin as we roll in the cabin. But when Mo Xiao fell out of the helicopter heavily, she got her face full of mud.
“Are you okay, Director?” I tried to help her.
“I’m fine! Keep going!” Mo Xiao shook off my hand.
“Where to?”
“You’ll see when we get there.”
Saying this, she stretched into the helicopter’s standing chassis and yanked down the two cases containing water and bread from inside, pulling out two travel backpacks along with it.
“Ha, it seems that the old man has anticipated this situation, even the escape supplies are prepared for me huh.”
She said through gritted teeth, bending down to stuff the backpack with water and bread, perhaps because she couldn’t vent her anger, she turned and yelled at me.
“What are you looking at? Load this up!”
Soon, we filled two pockets of bread and water, according to Mo Xiao’s request to put more water and less bread.
“People can live for about a month if they don’t eat, but if they don’t have water, they can only last three days at most. And eating is going to consume water in the body, especially eating something as dry as bread, so the ratio of water to bread should be 2:1 or even 3:1.”
“You are very experienced at traveling in this environment.”
“That’s for sure, when I followed the professor’s scientific research team in the Sahara Desert and the Colorado Grand Canyon, you probably couldn’t even add or subtract within 10.”
Suddenly, she jerked to a halt, signaling me to stop, at which point I also noticed that there was indeed some strange movement around.
She reached out in front of me and said with a serious expression, “Don’t panic.”
Suddenly, several sharp spears were thrown in all directions, sticking straight to the ground in front of us. I looked up and saw that where there wasn’t a single person just now, now filled with dozens of people, wearing black jackets, clear with hoods and steel helmets, with hats pulled extremely low, covering their faces. Even so, I was surprised to find that the group’s faces were wrapped tightly in a white translucent bandage. Combined with the intense sunlight, streaked with dust, as if mummified, it was unnerving.
And the most horrifying part is that their surroundings are filled with a black fog that can not describe. This black fog mixed within the sand and dust seems as if it were some kind of ‘disease’ visible to the naked eye, exhaled from various locations on the body. This black mist made people instinctively want to stay away, and even breathing more cautiously.
“They came fast.”
Mo Xiao shrugged, said and throwing the backpack on her shoulder and raising her hands.
Mo Xiao …… she just give up? I couldn’t believe my eyes, she surrendered straight away? No, it must not be that simple, looking at her that comfortable look, I know she must still have what tricks hidden.
My eyes wandered between her and the bandaged people, and at this point, I could only rely on the Director’s power ……
Why isn’t she doing anything? Is it possible that she is truly surrendered? Those black fogs are about to touch us ……!
Just when I reacted, those bandaged guys glared at us, drew up the spear stuck in the ground, and swarmed me. I hastily held my head and crouched down. At that moment, I saw Mo Xiao rushed forward defiantly, blocked my body, then opened his hands wide and roared at them.
“Endless long night, all eclipse the prison of the living!”
This roar carried for an unknown distance, with loud echoes echoing through the empty wilderness. When the bandaged people heard these words, they stopped their attacking stance as if they had heard an order, and looked at each other.
“Can you take me to your God?” She lowered her arms that stopped in front of me and said in a very calm tone. “I am her sister.”
For the first time in my life, I saw a view like that.
Being led by the bandaged people, we began to move toward the hinterland, and above the vault of the sky, something was slowly fluctuating, like the surface of water that had been poured into muddy pigments, bright makeup was smeared on the sky, making people feel very uncomfortable from afar.
Following the narrow path, I subconsciously stopped my feet. Looking up at the object wriggling in the sky. This unidentifiable object twisted and moved like a snake, and changed shape like a thin silk scarf floating in the air, let’s call it Silk for now.
“Move it.”
The guy behind me wearing a gas mask gave me a strong push and shouted at me.
He seemed to be used to the stunning scenery in front of him.
“Here we are.” The man at the front of the group said, then threw himself down with a knee. Once he kneeled, the whole team followed like dominoes.
“You guys kneel too!” The guy behind me yelled at us in a low voice.
A group of us knelt in the ground filled with potholes for ten or twenty minutes, looking down at the ground, doing nothing, which baffles me.
“Director, what are we doing?” I asked in a whisper.
“Unbelievable.” And Mo Xiao was also habitually ignoring me, just whispering and muttering. Our whining seemed to be heard and she was poked in the butt by the guy behind us again.
“No poking my butt!” Mo Xiao turned around and made a somewhat comical face at the guy.
After a while, these people seem to be kneeling enough and have all stood up. I still kneel for the first time for so long, feet are wooden, and Mo Xiao is unable to stand up, I dragged her up from the ground, the two of them to support each other to barely stand. And at that moment, the team moved once again.
I looked at the sky, the creeping silk seems to be getting bigger and bigger, around the corner of the boulder, the front view suddenly opened up. I could now clearly see the writhing object and the beautiful view that was shrouded in darkness.
“Director, what the hell is in the sky?”
I tried to ask Mo Xiao a few questions, but Mo Xiao just stared at the ever-changing silk in the air and frowned as if she was thinking about something.
Gradually, we approached toward the filth in the sky, and even from far away we could see the junction of evening and midnight, and the silk was like a wall separating the two. As the group moved forward, I felt the temperature dropping, and I could even exhale white air, and the dirt under my feet seemed to have frosted over and become somewhat slippery.
The road gradually began to steepen, the dirt road’s angle increases continually upward, and just like the outside, there is not much vegetation, only a few dead trees languishing in the barren land.
Suddenly, the group stopped once again, and I looked around, and from the low shrubs people were wearing the same gas masks sneaking around, and they greeted each other, exchanged a few quiet pleasantries, pointed at us for a while, and gave each other a salute.
Then the leader of the group yelled at the darkness in the distance and waved his hand.
At once, a million lights emerged from the darkness, dozens of searchlights lit up, and the blinding light almost burned my lens. I hurriedly shielded my eyes, only after a long time I dared to open them again, only to see the road was dark is now as clear as day. The path paved with gravel slabs set in the mud and muck, especially eye-catching.
The road leads straight to a majestic end — a glance along the rising terrain, sweeping across the distant hillside, a gloomy old fortress towering over it. The building looks like it was carved out of an entire mountain, blending in with the surrounding rock. Because of its high terrain and the thick walls of the city, it appears extraordinarily grand. But this is not the most amazing thing, in the castle below, is a piece of abrupt cliff, hanging alone under the wall of the city. This cliff is very different from the surrounding green and gray rocks, in the light of the moon shows a white light, on this white wall, is covered with a large number of scaffoldings. I observed they are trying to hollow out the entire mountain wall to make a cliff carving. Although not yet completed, but the slender limbs and the white of this cliff, so I can not help but feel that they carved seems to be a female ……
“Humph, she shares the same problem as her mother, just love to make these unpractical things.” Mo Xiao snorted and gave a disgusted glance at the towering castle.
Just then, the bandaged man came over and pulled out a black cloth, and waved it in front of my eyes.
“You people are not qualified to see the majestic splendor of the Holy City, you must be blindfolded when you enter the city.”
Mo Xiao listened, shrugged at me, and stretched out her head for the guy to put on the blindfold.
“I saw it all anyway ……” I muttered in a small voice and stretched my neck as well.
I don’t know how long we walked, but we were just brought to a place when we were pressed down on our shoulders and knees, and then had our blindfolds ripped off.
I looked around impatiently as I regained sight. We appeared to be in a parlor, with a long dining table that reached the end of the room, surrounded by antique flowers and potted plants, and an armor decoration, with many famous paintings hanging on the walls, some of which looked familiar. In the center of the room stood an antique bronze-colored leather throne.
“Phew, finally we are here.” Mo Xiao breathed a sigh of relief.
“…… Director, do they serve food here?” The hunger brought on by my empty belly, in turn, made me miss the bowl of chili oiled flat noodles earlier.
“Serves you right, you should be starved for a few meals,” Mo Xiao said, moving her stiff body.
“Then again, this place is?”
“The residence of the Eternal Undead, interesting, isn’t it?”
“‘Eternal Undead’? What is that?” This kind of childish-sounding name is uncomplimentary, and it’s hard to imagine that this is any kind of serious organization.
“Just think of it as an organization of ‘pilgrims’.” Mo Xiao said coldly. “An organization that makes pilgrimages to a bullshit God.”
Pilgrims again, another God’s …… What exactly do these refer to? Speaking of which, it seems that Mo Xiao had said before that she was the sister of these guys’ God or something.
“Huang Yuan, remember what I say, later on after going in, no matter what I say or do, you just go along with me, you hear me?” She said looking at the curtain door on one side of the throne.
“Got it, Director.” At this point, I already felt that the two of us were in an unusual situation.
As soon as the words left my mouth, several people walked in from behind the curtain, led by an imposing giant man wearing a hood, also wrapped in bandages, but compared to the few behind him wearing gas masks, the amount he wrapped was much less. In front of these big men, walked a little girl of 12 or 13 years old, she acts high and mighty, as if she was a great figure.
That person is ‘God’? I frowned, it’s just a little girl …… just when I wondered, this girl stood still in front of the throne, for her, the throne still seems a little high. The girl gently raised her head, the head of the big man dragged out the chair in front of him, and then carried her on the seat.
The girl coughed dryly twice, cleared her throat, and spoke.
“It’s been a long time, elder sister.”
Elder sister? In that case, does that mean she is Mo Xiao’s sister, the so-called ‘God’? In that case, this girl’s appearance was indeed a bit different from normal people: the silver hair that fell slightly curled, and the amber eyes, neither of which looked very much like an ordinary person, and at first glance, I always felt that something looked familiar.
“Long time no see! How is your health lately? Living quite comfortably, right?” Mo Xiao changed her usual image and suddenly became flattering.
“On the contrary, I haven’t been able to get the news of your death and the old woman’s death, so I don’t have much appetite for eating.” The girl said unhurriedly.
“Uh, I’m sorry.” Mo Xiao surprisingly said with such a smile.
Hearing this, the girl smiled coldly, “Well, let’s talk about the business, why would you want to meet me for no reason? Oh, by the way, there’s no need to say ‘I am her sister’, is it entertaining?”
Mo Xiao tsked, seemingly dumbfounded by her cynicism, and fell into silence for a moment.
The girl looked at Mo Xiao’s embarrassment and seemed satisfied, so she then turned her amber gaze to me. After sizing me up carefully for a moment, she smiled.
“Ah, I see, so that must be it.”
She said as if it had dawned on her.
“He’s your boyfriend, right? You eloped, and you have no relatives, so you had to come to me.”
“What?! It’s not like that!”
Before Mo Xiao could say anything, I hastily denied it, it was too outrageous.
“Yes! You’re right!” Mo Xiao suddenly took the words over, “To tell the truth, the professor made things difficult for us, the two bitter lovers, and we both had no choice but to ……”
“All right, all right, I already know,” the girl did not wait for Mo Xiao to finish, interjected, “Sister, did you took out the Library? Where is the old woman?”
Mo Xiao paused for a moment and said, “Since you already know, I won’t hide it, the Professor, she, has been buried in the fire, I’m sorry.” Saying that Mo Xiao lowered her head, and her eyes flooded with tears.
“Wow, elder sister is really capable, so the little handsome guy beside you, is he the one the old woman is looking for?”
She said, casting a questioning glance at Mo Xiao, who nodded reluctantly.
“So that’s how it is …… he’s ‘that guy’.” The girl rubbed her chin and looked thoughtful. Suddenly, with a slap on the table, she pointed at me.
“Thanks, elder sister for your hard work, Yōu is very satisfied, come on people, tie them both up!”
“What do you mean by that?!” Suddenly, Mo Xiao yelled. “You should know this guy ……”
“Yeah, I know.”
The girl’s words made Mo Xiao stop her words.
“Does sister take me for an idiot? How can someone like the old woman die so easily? Since you can’t kill the old woman, you don’t have an ounce of value to me, and this little handsome guy beside you is the person the old woman has been looking for, so killing him will at least make the old woman depressed for a few days, right?”
Suddenly, I felt a chill down my spine, the girl lowered her head slightly, and as if her appearance suddenly changed like a carnivorous demon, causing me to break into a cold sweat.
“Someone tie them up.”
“You ……” Mo Xiao stared at the girl, the usual eloquent machine gun-like mouth is suddenly lost its fiery. I looked at Mo Xiao for help, but after half a second, she was never able to say another word, only to raise her hand as if she wanted to rush up to slap her in the face, but the people quickly held her to the chair.
“Hmm, what I should use to send you to hell? You thief!”
The girl showed a suppressed ecstasy and looked at me with a distorted face.
“Hanging open disembowelment decapitation until half-dead after opening your stomach then burn the entrails in front of your eyes until the last ax that would……”
“Just a moment, please, miss.” Just when she excitedly described those appalling criminal torture, the giant man standing behind him suddenly interjected.
The girl’s enchanted chatter stopped at once.
“Do you have any good suggestions? Don’t give me such spoilers as shooting.”
“Yes, my suggestion is …… please spare them both.”
“Ha? Which language are you speaking?” The girl suddenly put away her smile.
“Chinese.”
“And is …… it a dialect of somewhere?” The girl frowned. “You mean you want me to let him go?”
“Yes.”
“Give me a reason.”
“It’s very indecent to execute a guest you’re meeting for the first time. Besides, your reason isn’t too good, and although I know how you feel about wanting to get back at Madame and Missy, the information we’ve gotten so far isn’t enough to accurately determine what happened over at the Library.”
“Well, there seems to be a few points.”
The girl then sat down again, her mouth wrapped in a breath, puffed up a bun face, and after thinking for a while said somewhat reluctantly, “Then let’s do away with the little handsome guy, aren’t you’re her boyfriend? Please die for her.”
The giant man sighed soberly and looked at me with an apologetic expression. Mo Xiao wanted to retort something, but only when she opened her mouth, the girl signaled the person behind her to cover her mouth.
The person behind me yanked me up from my seat, and at that moment I felt my head was blank. What’s going on here? I just escaped from the fire and escaped the helicopter crash …… Isn’t it said that there is a blessing after a great disaster? Did Mo Xiao sent me to hell?!
It all happened so unreasonably and so suddenly that I didn’t even have the time to cry and could only stare blankly ahead.
Just then, somewhere there was a sudden sound of metal striking against the ground.
I looked at the sound, only to see that the sound came from the pair of armor behind the girl, the armor took the halberd in his hand and pounded it on the ground three times, emitting a dull echo in this room. For a moment, all eyes gathered on the pair of armor. The girl took a look at the armor, frowned, then thoughtfully said to the crowd, “Stop, first lock-up that woman, and then arrange this little brother into the best guest room.”

Charnomi
The armor reacted to the MC and so the girl changed her mind.
