17.Those who demonstrated their abilities will be overwhelmed with work.
In the midst of the discussion about the details of the cultural festival presentation, Mizuki Kazamihara, a girl with semi-long hair who looked good in her glasses and a member of the festival executive committee, suddenly speaks to me.
“Thank you! The meeting was getting out of hand and I really appreciated your help. Looking back on it calmly, I was just shouting, “Discuss!” and not making any progress at all.”
Apparently, she came to express her gratitude and reflection, but she looked strangely cool and it was hard to discern how much emotion was there in her words.
” Ah,well…um…”
I’d like to deny it, but I can’t defend how stupid the situation was.
To be honest, she most likely knows the reason why it turned out the way it did.
“I really think that a meeting without a voting function is nothing but an endless bog. It felt like nothing was ever going to be settled.”
“Don’t say that like you’re talking about someone else!
We never talked much, but you’re pretty fast-paced, aren’t you?
“Yes, I am sorry and very grateful. When Nihama-kun suddenly went up on the podium and started yelling, I thought he had a screw loose, but he was …… actually a messiah.”
Please stop, don’t worship me with a straight face.
I mean, unlike her current plain tone, there was a strong emotion in her voice during the meeting, well, I guess that she was in a really terrible situation…?
“Well,.. now that we’ve gotten the formalities out of the way, let’s get down to business.”
“What ……?”
(Oh, ……, this pattern is ……!)
It was something I experienced many times before.
Declaring that you’re not good enough, and promoting the other person.
The next words that come out after this are always the same.
“I need to ask you a favor. ……”
Ahhhh, I knew it!
”Now, this is Nihama-kun, who has been officially appointed as an official advisor of the executive committee! Everyone please give your approval by clapping!
Kazamihara’s introduction generated a wave of applause from the entire class.
Only Shijouin-san had a big smile on her face and clapped, clapped, clapped! I’m glad, but I’m also a little embarrassed. ……
What Kazamihara asked me to do… was to assist the executive committee as the originator of the idea.
It’s not something I took on willingly, but…
“I’m sorry that I made you go to such lengths because of my lack of ability as a moderator, but that being said, it’s no good if the person who planned all this and even prepared the materials isn’t at the center of it, right?” There was no way to argue with that.
Well, it certainly wouldn’t do, to have the originator of the project not involved in the preparation, it would be as bad as a sequel game after the development team is gone.
(I was going to take responsibility until the end anyway, and while I don’t really understand the high school festival, I guess it shouldn’t be that hard.)
We were running a little late, but that’s why we decided to do something that didn’t require much preparation time.
At most, my job would be to communicate with the rental costume shop I’d already talked to, and to give a brief demonstration on how to make takoyaki.
And well – such a thought of mine was a flag.
During the work hours for the cultural festival, Kazamihara brought me a casual report.
“The budget is in trouble.”
“Why?”
I involuntarily gave a tsukkomi.
Do you have any idea how much I calculated my budget before the presentation?
I’m sure I kept the big expense of costume rental down to a low price and left myself some leeway!
” The girls want to buy materials to decorate the class, they want to buy ingredients for prototypes to increase the variety of flavors, they want to make more kinds of juice cocktails, and so on. …… There are other demands, but we don’t have the budget for all of them. We are in a financial crisis.”
That’s a lot of demands!
We can do a few things with our own ideas, but there’s a limit!
“Hey, Nihama! I want to make a big sign board so that our class will stand out! I’m going to buy some wood and art supplies, so give me some money!”
When I was scratching my head, that idiot Akasaki with a pointy head came to me smiling and begged for some money.
This guy was one of the war criminals in that messy meeting, but he didn’t seem to notice that I was thinking that way at all. For some reason, he was strangely casual with me.
I’m glad he’s an idiot. …… For better or worse, he seems to be enjoying being insensitive to other people’s feelings.
“No, wait a minute, Akasaki. I was just talking about the budget.”
“Kazamihara and Nihama! I’m sorry! I have a little request!”
This time, a stocky, short-haired boy named Tsukamoto from the baseball team arrives.
He’s an annoyingly nice guy having a girlfriend, an excellent athletic ability, a high position on the caste hierarchy, and a cool personality.
“I’m sorry, but my current schedule doesn’t allow me to go around with my girlfriend at the festival. I’m sorry, but I need you to make room for me! Please!”
“Wow, …… is this for a cultural festival date with your girlfriend or bragging against non-popular guys? I’m jealous.”
Hey, come on, Kazamihara! I know how you feel, but don’t give away your honest opinion!
(But I’m in trouble. If Tsukamoto’s shift opens up, who will I get to replace him?)
“Help me, Nihama-kun!”
Before I had time to think about it, Mai Fumihashi, an athletic short-cut girl with a toned figure, came crying to me.
This girl is secretly popular with the boys, but she has an unfortunate habit of falling asleep in class.
“Noroda-kun says it’s too much trouble and won’t help me set up the venue! Whenever I complain, he just runs away from the classroom. …… What should I do?”
Oh, ……, he’s still acting like that! Then–
“Hey Nihama! How do you make a meal ticket? I don’t know anything about computers!
“Sorry, sorry! I can’t find the receipt for the purchase at ……!”
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!
Without solving any of the problems, my classmates bring me new ones..!
No way. …… This is an indication of the unpleasant memory in my previous life, the collapse of the workplace.
Everyone is conscious of the fact that ‘we don’t have much time, so let’s hurry up and prepare’, but this has caused impatience to create chaos in the workplace.
I was relieved that the festival, Shijoin-san was hoping for, would be achieved as long as the program was decided, but I didn’t know that there was still this extra obstacle…!
Well then, I have no choice but to do it seriously!
I’m going to go all out like a former company slave…!

Are they for real? They act like middle school kids XD
I remember my highschool classmates being very dependable when I was a student. Kind of doesn’t count because I was in a top level one(at least in my country) but still.
Narucchi
He didn’t anticipate that his classmates doesn’t have that much experience.
Deadmilkmen
There is absolutely no way I’d put up with any of that bullshit. Give people an inch, they’ll take a mile. One lifetime wasn’t enough for this guy to learn that? “But in doin it for the girllllll” no, fuck off. Stop being a slave.
razgriz34
Lol u escaped from that black company pattern and then u created new one
dmnttt
Well, unlike at his black company, this project is time-boxed. As long as he doesn’t get recruited into the student council or something, that is… Oops, did I just raise a flag?
